Mahatma — Restaurant in Paris

We love Indian food and have tried six or seven different places in Paris over the last decade. Mahatma was an excellent choice when looking for a nice lunch near our hotel. We enjoyed lamb samosa, cachumber salad, grilled vegetables, garlic naan, chicken korma, and tandoori tikka lamb chops. Food was ok, although I asked them what they could serve that did not have coriander and it was a big fail aside from the naan which came as "nature" as all others have coriander. Biryani with a lot of coriander and chicken tikka with it too... Portions are decent and we went through the Fork app which had a 20% discount on all food (63 euros for 2!). Cocktails are pricey (even by Paris standards, 15cl for 15 euros) and the wine menu is not up to date. Staff was nice but on the slow side. I have been to better Indian...

I'm very picky when it comes to Indian food, but this is one of the best ones I've experienced - absolutely delicious and not too greasy. Located between the Madeleine church and the Olympia concert hall, this isn't a take-out. It's a proper gastronomical restaurant and winner of the 2010 Fourchette d'Or of Indian gastronomy.
