Averaged Vietnamese Pho (not authentique, too sweet, not sharp enough in taste and aroma to be called Pho. But this might satisfy the western people who cannot tell good Pho from bad Pho). The beef in the Pho is good. I am able to judge this because I have tasted 1000s times real Vietnamese Pho. And I cook Vietnamese Pho many times per year.
On the other hand: delicious spring rolls. I've tasted thousands times of Vietnamese springrolls to firmly say I can tell good from bad spring rolls.
The reason for these 2 stars instead of 4 stars, is because of an extremely chaotic, dirty and scammy underground parking near this restaurant (which is virtually the only parking option for this restaurant). That parking place has urine eveywhere, has misleading information boards regarding where to do what, and most importantly it has a malfunction parking payment system which charges every car double (at the payment machine, and then at the barrier). This restaurant owner and all other owners at this kwartier need to do something to improve this, otherwise you deserve to lose customers.
One more bad side of going to eat here: no WC opportunities in the whole district 13, which forces people to urinate in the underground parking. Asian people should do something to help improve this. You cook excellently but you are mediocre in managing toilet and parking.
PS: when the owner said that the parking place shouldn't be mentioned in this review. No it should belong to this review because (1) it affects customers' experience, next time we or other customers would want to eat elsewhere instead of going here to district 13, (2) the scammy revenue of the parking place should affect this restaurant's revenue, directly...
Read moreWe found a real gem! I had heard great reviews about this place so decided to take my parents to try on our recent trip to Paris. My parents are from Vietnam and I have failed to find a pho restaurant in London which has impressed them. Finally Phó 18 impressed them with the quality of the pho (clean but flavoursome broth, perfect noodle texture and tender beef) and dessert (the “three colour” che ba mao coconut drink was the best we have ever had). The lovely owner talked us through how they make their delicious broth, confirming that each batch is made with large bones of Charolais beef (French bred and certified) which are slowly cooked each day to ensure a balanced flavour and freshness (there is no overnight broth which is why the broth is so clear in comparison to the cloudiness of other restaurants). The sweetness and flavours of the beef infiltrates the soup, without the need for strong seasoning (which some other restaurants will use to substitute flavour). The che dessert is made fresh (not with artificial powders) and with quality coconut milk therefore there is a limited amount available so don’t miss this before they are sold out. It’s a shame we do not live in Paris as we would certainly be regulars. Highly recommend this restaurant for those that want to enjoy high quality and authentic...
Read moreThis place is so amazing. The food is so fantastic. We tried 3 dishes and 2 drinks. The bun, the house special pho and a rice dish. The standout is the house special pho, the noodle is so perfectly tender yet chewy at the same time. Best pho ever and we come from Vancouver, a land of amazing pho soups!
Best of all is the amazing service and welcoming attitude of the owners. We found this place on google after our flight was cancelled at Orly airport. On our way to a new flight at CDG we stopped at this place with 2 kids ages 3 and 5. We were exhausted and starving. The owners are so amazing. We got gorgeous patio seating and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The owners came by to say hi, offer the kids lollipops and gave us advice on Paris. They know since we are transiting we are unlikely to be frequent customers... yet the incredible hospitality was so appreciated. We would for sure come back to Paris again and definitely look forward to visiting Pho 18. Big sincere thank you to the owners who made our day and gave us an...
