Gourmet dishes are really small and not super delicious. Dont come hungry, come here for tasting only because meals amount is enough for tasting only. Atmosphere is good, waiter is kind, tries to do everything at a time but very difficult to manage. I would try somewhere else if you are in Paris for short time.
Edit after owner reply: thanks for the reply and thanks for charging only the drinks for the night. It is kind of you to search for a honest feedback and still saying a sincere bonsoir when we leave. Maybe not a good idea to serve with only one person, or maybe it is the concept that we arenot familiar with. The courses were small but very reasonble price, so we could have ordered more to feel full. Still all food except risotto was so average and the deserts were below average in contrast with how they look. Difficult to explain what is wrong but didnot feel satisfied. The coctails were below average, margaritas without salt, so bitter and you dont go for the second round. Maybe French style, no idea. The waiter did the great job to deal with all the customers and the bar job and the cleaning as well. Impossible not to...
Read moreI don't usually leave reviews, but I've found the reviews here so confusing because there are so many and they are all so positive, that perhaps another perspective could be useful (for both customers and owners of the restaurant). Disclaimer: we weren't the best customers; early on we accidentally knocked over the candle and spilt wax on the table and then tried to clean it ourselves, which was definitely a faux pas. The waiter was understanding and kind, even if also evidently annoyed. But outside of this, the place was not very welcoming. It was very empty and yet when we took a table instead of waiting for one, the waiter made us feel out of place for doing so. It's so brightly lit and the music is so quiet that you have no real chance of intimacy (important for a date), and furthermore, I am very convinced that my main plate had frozen food. For the price and all the pomp and show of being a highly rated restaurant, it does not make sense with my experience. I hope this helps, I wish the best for the owners but advise visiting other high-end restaurants for inspiration as you may have missed the mark...
Read moreThe good news is that the food is ok. Unfortunately the finish isn't all the way there. 2 out of the 3 dishes I had were noticeably under seasoned. With one or two exceptions (a mussel and veal dish with julienne of apple was quite interesting), the dishes served are rather conventional. Overall I would say the food is bistro-grade, but prices and aspirations are unfortunately higher than that.
Service was friendly (good English), but confused - two waiters seemed to alternate at our table, and they were evidently not keeping one another up to date. Finally, the price - this is Paris, but all the same: 40 euro for two courses, 12 euro for a cocktail, a limited selection of wines by the glass, mostly around 9 euro each. Fine by me if the execution is flawless and the meal is memorable, but Blue Valentine fell short of this, and so we left feeling that we hadn't quite got our...
