The staff were unprofessional and did not properly verify the payment details. They removed your personal belongings even though you had paid the rent. The staff do not seem to believe this was their fault for not checking the details.
Date: 5 Jul 11:59 I received the staff , Camille email about my late for check-out.
12:25 I replied them I paid my booking until 6 Jul when I check-in , mentioned one of your staff also marked my check-out date is until 6 Jul on my keycard. With the attachments proof of my credit card transactions and the room card information .
13:24 staff replied there is a misunderstanding and one of the colleague wrote the check-out date wrong because on your reservation it says indeed that your are supposed to leave this morning the 5th of July 😕
14:23 I hope they confirm my checkout date is 6 Jul
14:45 Inès staff requested me send them a proof confirming my stay until the 6 Jul
16:11 replied them I will show their booking information to them when I back to hostel
Around 19:00 i back to my room , and all of my personal belongings are removed. They put all of my stuff ( slippers, clothes and other bags) into the smelly garbage bag on the floor behind the reception table .
19:30 I showed my credit card transaction again and one of my 5-6/7 cancellation booking to the female staff . One transaction charged me 47.75Euro is the room rate for 6 Jul and another one is for 4 nights tax fee. The staff replied me she didn’t know what the payment 47.75Eur on my card is . She didn’t find the record on the system . But my credit card transaction is clearly stated that their hostel name .After few mins, another senior male staff spent 5-10 minutes can find my billing of 47.75Eur on my one of the cancellation booking.
For the issue, the staff removed my personal belongings without my permission and missed checking the details of the transaction, i didn’t receive their apologies for the mistake. The senior staff even didn’t think this is their fault. They said they can give me the same room for my stay. In fact, There are 2 empty female rooms left on the night of 6 Jul . Also , I did ask the check-in staff if I can stay the same room which he guaranteed yes. Thus I paid my 2nd booking on the check-in date whereas I knew the room rate that I paid was higher than when I confirmed the booking in advance.
Yesterday I cannot sleep because my skin feels incredibly itchy. And I had to wake up at 5:30am to catch my early train going to next destination.
I took a lesson from them. This is what they think the appropriate way to settle the thing. Don’t separate booking , don’t trust them and ensure you got the billing from them. Don’t leave anythings on the bed , they can throw out away even u replied them and even they had room can allow other female members for...
Read moreI would say if you single and trying save money or you are okay to sleep with more than 4 people in a dormitory with no air conditioning or no way to open windows then try it. If you couple, or with friends you can find far better options out there. We booked 5 nights in 4 people dormitory and had to vacate on the second day. The room was hot like a sauna at night where we couldn’t get any sleep and got us sick within two days in Paris. I told the receptionist about it the first night that the air conditioning not working. Leo the reception guy said it supposed to work, there is no way we sleeping in there without AC bcz it can get air tight etc. I am like yeah, I know that then fix it. He said they will fix it the next day. Same thing the next night, I can down to him at 3am , told him please fix it. First he said it’s working, supposed to work, then it might not be working, then he pressed on something and it started working. I was happy then after an hr AC stopped again. When I went down again he said they will fix the next day that they don’t know what’s the problem. Same thing next day, nothing happened, we both were pretty sick as we hardly slept for 2 hrs in two days. It felt like they don’t really care about the people who live there, they either turn off the AC or no intention to fix it. We didnt get any refund for our 3 nights , we didn’t care at that point as we felt like going to die lol. I am surprised how they got 4.4 reviews. If you go through the reviews you can see similar situations like this. What I want to tell the property, be honest. If the ac not working notify that, if you not gonna fix it say that instead. I would not come back or recommend to any of my friends The staffs are friendly, 24hr reception, you can fill water from there. There are people chilling there in the bar area,...
Read moreI would like to give this place a good review, because it has the potential to be a good place, but I did not have a good stay. I stayed here 4 nights and each night it was so hot in the room I would soak the sheets in sweat and covered in mosquito bites. I requested 3 times they turn down the temperature to little change. I then informed them one of the windows would not shut and the guy shrugged his shoulders and says, "that's a problem we have." It didn't help that the cleaning staff would come in loudly and open all the curtains turning the room into a greenhouse either. There was also only a 1 mens toilet for the entire floor, which is just gross, even though it usually looked fairly clean. I don't mind being in Belleville but if you are a solo female traveler it could seem scary. It also appears to be less of a travelers hostel and more of a hostel for locals. Nearly everyone I talked to was from Paris and in large groups, so definitely not solo traveler friendly (it is a good chance you test your french though). But the one thing that really earned them the rare one star rating is the rudeness of the hostel staff. Many of the hostel staff were not at all helpful or nice, often being unprofessional. I have been to Paris many times, in many hostels, along with many other places in France (I love France)... rarely will you meet rude people in France so long as you are respectful and kind. Some of the hostel staff give France a bad look and that really upset me. For the same price there are far better hostels, and even if they are a little bit more expensive, they are worth it. Go to the Regency Montmartre or one of the Jo&Joe's instead (St. Christophers in if you just want to party, but it wont be...
