La Gazette — Restaurant in Poitiers

A very nice and cosy restaurant where I enjoy a meal from time to time. The food is really good, when I go to that restaurant I usually order one of their (big!) burgers with fries and it’s always a delight. Their other dishes are good too of course (I haven’t tried all of them yet though)! The staff is very nice and friendly. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a good decoration. Price may be a bit high but it’s worth it in my opinion. It’s conveniently located in the centre of Poitiers, so after a day visiting the city, you can stop at that restaurant and enjoy a nice dinner!

My wife had ham & melon with a side of frites, one of her go to favourites. She finished with a creme brulee, which she enjoyed.

I started with a caprese, then a blue cheese burger, followed by a gourmand dessert.

We had a bottle of Cotes de Rhone which was good but was comfortably the most expensive bottle of wine that we have had.

My burger was just about warm, I really would have like it to have been hot.

Also, really not impressed that I cannot get cheese in a french restaurant, it is part of the reason why we have come here. Dear me!

I’ve eaten at La Gazette on a multitude of occasions and have never been disappointed.

Firstly, whilst most restaurants in the area close at certain points of the day and reopen, La Gazette stays available much longer, which is so useful when we’re looking to grab a bite outside of the classic 12-2pm timeframe.

Secondly, the food is wonderful. I have tried a lot of dishes on the menu over my last 5 years living in Poitiers and have always left satisfied. The burgers are sumptuous and MY GOD is the tiramisu good! One of the best I’ve tasted in a long time.
