We visited Manhattan Café in March and had a reasonably good experience.
The guacamole and tortilla chips had the potential to be lovely but had absolutely zero seasoning on the tortilla chips or the guacamole. No salt to be found - it was honestly painful to get through and tasted like cardboard. My coconut cocktail didn’t help either, as it tasted like soap and cheese - I couldn’t drink it.
The burger for the main was wonderful and truly sumptuous. My strudel for dessert was also beautiful and we left feeling so full!
The drink and the starter really let the meal down. I’ve since ordered in their cheesecake for delivery too, and it arrived completely smashed and under set, which was a shame considering the prices for their desserts on Uber Eats are exorbitant.
I recommend Manhattan Café if you’re looking for a quick burger, but nothing more.
UPDATE:
Since this review, my fiancé and I have returned to Manhattan Café on a multitude of occasions and had great experiences with other menu items.
We usually go there for the 350g ribeye (entrecôte) steak, which is always cooked to perfection and the meat is always of great quality. It is one of, if not the best, steaks in Poitiers. They also do special dry-aged cuts that you can order in larger quantities to share, but I wasn’t too impressed with the cookery of those, so I would stick to the classic ribeye. Their chocolate mousse is also utterly divine and an amazing way to finish off the meal.
To cut a long story short, I’ve added some extra photos and boosted my rating to a 4 to reflect some of the more recent experiences we’ve had at Manhattan Café, as they’ve been much...
Read moreThe food looks delicious but lacks in taste and texture. Pretty bland, boring and expensive compared to danish standards.
We had the New Yorker burger, Cesar Salad and a Chicken Burger, along with two mojitos.
The new Yorker taste wise was totally overpowered by mustard while lacking in taste otherwise. I feel like great improvement could be made if the reduced the amount of mustard and flowered the paddies with more salt and pepper. Texture wise the steaks were cooked the medium but were dry and bland. Possibly cooked ahead and kept warm.
The Chicken Burger was good. We had no comments on that.
The Cesar salad seemed nice. The only visual comment I had on this is that the eggs seemed overcooked as they had the black rings around the yolk.
The fries were okay. I they lacked a bit of salt but was otherwise fine.
The drinks and cocktails. We ordered Mojitos, milkshakes, coke. Ice tea and Fanta. The Mojitos were meh. Way to. Bitter and consisted mainly of ice and lacked lime sirup and were fairly small compared to the price. The milkshakes were mainly ice. They lacked flavor and seemed...
Read moreThe location of this place was really nice and the inside was nice and cozy looking. We ordered a spritz and a Moscow mule for drinks at first. The spritz was very good. The Moscow mule was ok but not great and it seemed like the cup was less than half full. We ordered the classic burger and a poke bowl. They asked if we wanted it later after our drinks but we said we were hungry so we wanted it now.. and we had our food in literally two minutes.. it was soooo fast. I mean I appreciate fast service but it seemed too fast. I didn't even finish my cigarette. So I understand the poke bowl was cold and probably pre prepared, the burger was prepared a point so it didn't need to be cooked much but still.. almost too fast.. the burger was not bad but not the greatest. It didn't have much sauce on it and the bun had tons of poppy seeds and the taste of the poppy seeds were strong. The meat seemed good and had a good taste. Overall it wasn't a bad experience but not the greatest. My wife said the poke bowl was...
