The restaurant is a cozy gem with chalkboard menus, light wood tables, and pops of color and texture that feel approachable and curated at the same time. The Lièvre a la Royale is a life-altering combo of spoon-tender braised hare (organs lovingly included) and a velvety red wine sauce given luscious texture and savory depth (and, pleasantly, no overt minerality) by blood. The madelines, served warm, are dewy with butter but still airy and featured crackling little wings of browned batter. A must-visit in Rennes!

The scallop, covered in wonderfully crunchy breadcrumbs and lovely rich bretonne sauce. I scraped every bit of it off the shell. The fish was beautifully cooked. The perfect balance of keeping the fish moist and the skin crispy. The dessert was a symphony of salted caramel, from the crème pâtissière, to the caramel and the ice cream. The crispy choux was delightful. The food was €20.50! That’s ridiculously good value. The two glasses of the best Muscadet I have ever had plus coffee almost doubled the cost though! Worth it.

An exceptional meal enjoyed at this beautiful restaurant in Rennes. I highly recommend Coquille for the food, service and ambience. Our group of four enjoyed dinner on the terrace on this hot Saturday night. We tried to jambon and tuna starters followed by the fillet of beef, linguine with langoustines and linguine with asparagus. All the meals well beautifully presented, full of flavour and made use of seasonal produce. Dessert was a treat. We had strawberry served three ways and a chocolate and coconut dessert that was delicious. Lovely touch when the chef brought out dessert and engaged with our daughter. A must try in Rennes!

Scallops a la Bretonne, fillet of pollack with fregula (mini pasta balls), parsnip and beurre blanc sauce, followed by crunchy choux pastry filled with a salted caramel crème pâtissière. The scallop, covered in wonderfully crunchy breadcrumbs and lovely rich bretonne sauce. I scraped every bit of it off the shell. The fish was beautifully cooked. The perfect balance of keeping the fish moist and the skin crispy. The dessert was a symphony of salted caramel, from the crème pâtissière, to the caramel and the ice cream. The crispy choux was delightful. The food was €20.50! That’s ridiculously good value. The two glasses of the best Muscadet I have ever had plus coffee almost doubled the cost though! Worth it.

Mot d ordre: la rentabilité Arrives pour le service de 21h45 le restaurant est bondé. En soit, c est bon signe mais au final le nombre massif de réservations a certainement obligé le personnel à rajouter des places devant l entrée et déplacé les gens pour entasser quelques personnes de plus. Heureusement qu il y avait des tables en stock, sinon je pense que nous aurions fini par manger sur les genoux d un inconnu. Nous sommes donc placés devant l entrée dans le courant d air et le passage des serveurs. A priori ils sont victimes de leur succès suite à un reportage sur les oursins dans le JT de 13h sur France 2. 45 minutes plus tard enfin la carte arrive … un petit quart d heure passe et la commande est prise. Les excuses du serveur : un bug informatique pour la prise de commande. J imagine que prendre une commande sur papier n existe plus post Covid… pendant ce temps, les nombreux couples ( St Valentin oblige) autour de nous se plaignent du bruit généré par une tablée d amis. Les couples les plus râleurs seront replacés mais nous, nous resterons bien au frais :) Les entrées sont servis, les plats plus tard aussi. Nos voisins reçoivent enfin leurs repas qu ils attendaient depuis bien plus longtemps que nous ( arrivés pour le service de 20h) A eux on leur annonce un manque de personnel en cuisine et le patron est prêt à les embaucher ( no comment ) fin de repas. Un autre serveur nous présente ses excuses en prétextant ce coup ci une panne d électricité en début de service. QUE D AVENTURE !! Bref les clients râleurs à juste titre se sont vus offrir coup de champagne, desserts, petits mers pour le lendemain et les plus indulgents bah on s en fiche ils payent plein pot ;) Je ai Pas pour habitude de laisser des avis mais le le restaurateur il conviendra d apporter une vigilance tout aussi particulière pour l ensemble de vos clients. Il sera judicieux d harmoniser vos excuses quand vous voulez faire 3 services et que vous n arrivez pas à assumer le service. Rien ne sert aussi de critiquer la petite jeune qui courait dans tous les sens pendant que 2 autres étaient bien plus zen. Tout cela ne retire en rien la QUALITE DES PLATS même si le prix n est à mon sens pas justifier Exemple 36 euros la brochette de St jacques quand on sait que c est 4/5 euros le kilo ça picote un peu Le boudin maison était...
