During our camper-van road trip through French Bretagne, we stopped in Rennes and couldn't resist trying their iconic galette-saucisse. So that's what we ordered at Crêperie Au Marché des Lices, their La Robiquette (saucisse, emmental, onions, and mustard à l'ancienne), and it was truly delicious—full of bold flavors and perfectly cooked. As an apéritif, we had a phenomenal glass of Pommeau de Bretagne, followed by regional cider to pair with the main course, our galettes. For dessert, we indulged in sweet crêpes: La Bigouden (butter-cooked apples, house-made salted butter caramel, and vanilla ice cream) and L'Amandine (frangipane, pear, and house-made chocolate), both of which were heavenly.
The entire experience was fantastic. The food came out quickly, and the restaurant had a vibrant, local atmosphere, packed with friendly patrons. The waiters were extremely kind, attentive, and welcoming—even offering a water bowl for our golden retriever, who was allowed to sit with us. We had a lovely time and highly recommend Crêperie Au Marché des Lices for an authentic and delicious Breton...
Read moreWe stopped in Rennes as part of our camper-van road-trip in Bretagne and we decided to come to this crêperie for lunch.
They warmly welcomed us and our golden retriever for lunch. The charming restaurant was full of locals and seemed to be very popular.
For apéritif, we had an kir Breton and also a pommeau, and both were delicious. We also ordered 50cl of tap cider, also typical from the region. As a main course, we had their Robiquette, the Renne emblematic galette-saucisse recipe. It came with a delicious sausage, onion jam, and emmental cheese. It was tasty, well cooked, well seasoned… and we loved it.
However, the highlight of our meal was the dessert. We had a crêpe sucrée with baked apples, lotus biscuits, home made salted caramel and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was out of this world! One of the best crêpes we’ve had in Bretagne.
The staff was super friendly, and we had a great time....

The other reason I went there was to try the hyped local street food which was so bad that a point we felt like vomiting. I'd never ever eat there ever if I go there. Although the good thing is I saw some of the very rare vegetables that I never see in the supermarkets. I'll visit again to...
