Falafel — Restaurant in Rennes

The food at Falafel is truly authentic Lebanese, and every bite reflects the love and tradition put into its preparation. The owner, Jacques (I hope I’m writing his French name right. His real name is Abdul Alim), is the loveliest person we’ve ever met. He is witty, funny, and took the time to explain each dish to us in detail. Everything we had was absolutely delightful and delicious, making it the best Lebanese food we have ever had in Europe! The dishes were 1000% homemade, and you can taste the difference.

Every food item was a highlight; we cannot choose just one. We loved every bite! Each dish was seasoned perfectly, with nothing too sweet or too salty. We noticed that the style of the meal is tapas-style, with everything served in small portions, perfect for sharing.

Jacques embodies true Middle Eastern hospitality. We came as strangers and left feeling like family. He speaks French, Arabic, and English fluently, which made it very easy for us to converse and feel at home. Despite arriving late as a group of 11, well after their 2 PM closing time, Jacques welcomed us with open arms. We were the only ones dining at that time, and the experience felt like visiting a relative’s home.

After our meal, we took some pictures outside the restaurant with Jacques, and noticed that several local passersby stopped to greet and chat with him. It’s clear that Falafel is not just a restaurant but a beloved part of the community.

Le meilleur restaurant libannais que j'ai eu l'occasion d'essayer. Des prix abordables pour manger de délicieux plats traditionnels libannais de haute qualité ! Les plats sont copieux et magnifiquement réalisé par un chef au top et très expérimenté. Pour avoir goûté toute la carte je dois dire que chaque plat est un délice et bien garni ! Le serveur est drôle et bienveillant n'hésitez pas a demander conseils pour le choix du menu et pour la dégustation il saura grandement vous répondre. Malgré qu'il soit débordé par le service, il ne manque pas d'énergie et d'humour qui reflète une gentillesse et un homme honnête qui cherchera à ce que vous passiez une bonne soirée. Le professionnalisme de l'établissement se fait ressentir, une carafe d'eau toujours pleine et une corbeille de pain toujours remplie aussi malgré le rush. Malgré un établissement petit et un petit personnel, les deux hommes qui s'occupent du restaurant se donnent à 200% pour vous faire voyager au Liban a travers leurs plats typiques dans un cadre convivial. Je remercie vraiment le serveur qui est plein d'attentions et de bonne surprise (Merci d'avoir marqué le coup pour l'anniversaire de ma mère ). Nous étions trois, et n'avons pas été déçu d'aucun plats goûté ! Ils étaient bons. Il est important toutefois de réserver à l'avance pour être sûr de manger puisque l'établissement est très sollicité pour les raisons évidentes cité ci-dessus. Une magnifique découverte pour notre première soirée à Rennes....
