CAFÉ HAMLET — Restaurant in Rouen

Actually, I didn’t even know about this restaurant, but i started out at restaurant called Paul Arthur’s and they had no availability so this really nice waiter gave me the address and name of this restaurant. I am very happy that the people in this city want to keep visitors, happy which they did from the beginning when we walked in without a reservation the manager ? was trying to accommodate us which he did. We sat outside the waiters and waitresses didn’t speak much English so that they tried really hard and they did a great job they do have a queue that you can look on your phone and get it in English so that was very helpful. I had the bar fish which I’ve never had for. It was delicious. We also had a green salad and we also had the beef special of the day and then we tried one of their fabulous desserts had a wine bottle of water. I felt fairly priced for the quality and quantity of the food and the atmosphere It was a delicious dinner actually one of the best since I’ve been in France, which is only been six days, but especially in this city. Update: The restaurant emailed us. The tone was unfortunately the same as we were treated, belittling and unsafe. It is a shame that we did not receive an apology.

Very unfriendly staff. When you try to speak french, they dont make any effort in explaining themselves. The waitress kept walking back and forth every 30 secondes. Very annoying when you are eating. Food was okayish, there was a piece of bone in beefgrounded hamburger which is weird. When asked if we could pay the guy said we could pay downstairs. We were chuckled at because we didn’t have dessert by the waitress. The host of the place laughed at us when we left. When I looked him straight in the eyes he was shocked. We came during non busy times and were lucky to find a table for four with a large stroller. But from here everything went wrong. We didn’t got starter meal but instead we got the main courses, they just forgot about starter. Also they forgot to add kids meals and ordered them after our main courses. Kids meals were not fully cooked (raw meat) and we asked to cook it properly. Finally kids started to eat only after we finished our main courses.

As a managers, especially when customers are in from of you, I am sorry I need to write a review to get attention (we were compensated during the payment, but why not before, at least apologies).
