Les Fils à Maman Rouen — Restaurant in Rouen

We were there to taste their brunch. It was good but it was not extraordinarily delicious. We had 1 little cup of hot drink, a small bottle of local juices, eggs benedictine with bacon or salmon with sautéed potatoes and a bit of green salad, and mini basket of 3 small french pastry and 2 small cuts of breads with 2 small jams and a pot of medium Nutella. All of them for 26€ (25€ + 1€ additional because we chose a breakfast basket of french pastry)

To be honest, the brunch is simply over priced. You can get way better brunch experience in Rouen with much cheaper (around 15-20€) and even possibility to refill the hot drinks or fresh juice. More choices of french pastry or at least refill baguette, and a dessert (such as cakes or fruit).

The thing that we still don’t understand is they gave each person a medium pot of Nutella (at the same table) and we got only 2 small cuts of bread to eat with! We didn’t even feel good to open it because it would be a total waste. They served the eggs benedictine without waited us to finish our pastry. So it was basically arrived at the same time.

I feel bad to write this review because their service were good, the servers were nice and all. So i wish that the restaurant will take this advice to improve the quality and the quantity of the brunch. So we’re not going to feel disappointed to spend 26€...

Lousy service. After dinner they left the dirty plates on the table for more than 20 minutes, with not many clients around at all. My daughter of 14; went in and asked in her best French for the menu to pick a dessert. The lady was cleaning glasses, standing next to a box with all the menu’s but told my daughter to go back to her table, sit and wait. And so we did. With our dirty plates.. 5 minutes later I went in myself to ask for the menu, but I got the same answer. She was standing NEXT to the box with all the menu’s, I could have taken it with me myself. Another 5 minutes later ( only two couples sitting with us outside and already heaving their dinner) we remembered that we had the QR code for English menu, so we took a look at the desserts and made our choices. No one came. My husband went in and said that by now, we knew what we wanted. She said: for orders you have to wait outside…. OMG. She was still polishing glasses. We came as a group of four friends. Everyone ordered alcoholic drinks (beer and cider), but only two of us wanted to eat. The other two were simply not hungry and just wanted to enjoy their drinks and spend time with friends.

After we placed our order, the waitress came back and told us that everyone at the table must order food, otherwise we were not allowed to stay. There were no signs or prior warnings about this policy, and we were not informed in advance.

The only “solution” they offered was that those who didn’t want to eat should leave the restaurant and free up the seats. Frankly, this was rude, unprofessional, and completely absurd. We’ve never encountered such treatment anywhere else.

It completely ruined the evening in Rouen. We cannot recommend this place to anyone. Avoid if you expect...
