We visited Croissant Royal twice. The first visit a year ago was great. The service was a little off but the food we ordered was delicious. During the most recent visit a lot went wrong. First my crepe with shrimp and mussels came with mussels, fake crab (which makes me sick) and no shrimp. I returned my dish after the first 3 bites. Server insisted that the "seafood mix" is what they serve on all their "shrimp dishes" and that I should have expected it. Pizza, my kids ordered, came without olives despite olives being listed as an ingredient. When asked for olives they brought some dark brown olives with pits. Are whole olives served on pizza? Ugh. Then we waited for about 30 min to my husband's salmon crepe only to learn that they run out of salmon. When it came to paying the bill, they still wanted to charge us for their miss advertised crepe. The server said that she couldn't take it off the bill because I already ate it (3 bites). After very unprofessional back and forth (part of which was carried in French between the 2 servers and another guest that happened to be sitting at the bar, we don't speak French, which they knew) they finally took the charge off. I'm from Europe, I'm used to blunt communication and lack of sugar coating but this was an absolutely atrocious and disrespectful behavior that I haven't experienced before. How are they still staying in business...
Read moreI didn't expect the food to be as good as it was. The croissants with jam and butter are quite delicious. In addition, the pain au chocolat (pretty much a pastry with some soft chocolate in the middle) was very good too. The vanilla ice cream crepe was AMAZING. The chocolate sauce and ice cream taste like no other chocolate sauce or ice cream I've ever had....so good!! I wanted another one immediately after. Also, their chicken sandwich was very good, very basic, but very good. The bread made it even better. Their prices are very competitive compared to similar food items you may find on the island. One of the cheaper locations we visited during our whole trip.
I've never been here before my visit at the end of November, but the location does look a bit different compared to photos I have seen uploaded online from several years ago. I think I read somewhere that it was damaged during the hurricane in 2017, but was then rebuilt by a different owner sometime in early 2018?
This place has beautiful views of the bay along with some of the hills in the background.
If you want a croissant, try and get there sooner rather than later. We went here several times on our trip, and both of the times that we went after 1 pm, they were out of croissants! All other times we visited earlier in the day they still...
Read moreThe service was wonderful and friendly. Despite its name, the croissants were just okay compared to a few of the other bakeries nearby that we went to. But those places specialize in pastries and coffee, whereas The Croissant Royal has a varied menu with way more options. One of those options is Crepes. They are SO GOOD and HUGE. I was famished when I sat down so I ordered two. And I ended up only eating one and a half. I couldn’t eat another bite. The outdoor seating is nice with a view of the inlet, boats, homes and hotels. It’s location is a bit outside of the main shopping district but still easy to walk to from wherever you parked. A very good breakfast at a very reasonable price (full belly with leftovers for $30,...
