La Villa — Restaurant in Saint-Nazaire

everything was absolutely incredible! The vibe: everything was perfect, the place was really not crowded for a Friday night on a long weekend (May 1) which I think is a reflection of the economy ie. people aren't so keen to eat out but hey it worked for us because we didn't struggle at all to find a place to seat (though we made a resy) but we were seated at the top on the terrasse with a beautiful view of the main square. So so so pretty and romantic!

The service: everything from our host to our waitress were such attentive to ensuring we had a great time. Kudos to both!

The food and drinks: we ordered the main charcuterie/cheese board - so yum and a great range of cheeses + meat) The main: I got the cesar salad, the portion was on the smaller side I thought but with all the bread I had, it ended up being perfect! However we were quite starved so my boyfriend got the pesto rosso (sadly that one got cold pretty fast! :( ) and the entrecote with fries. The portions were perfect there!! Dessert: I was no longer hungry but the man was haha ! So we got the thé gourmand - a platter of miniature dessert so you have a sample! perfect and delightful

Solid food and beverage in an upper class area of La Baule. Restaurant is systematized and dressed well.

However, didnt feel much genuine hospitality or true welcoming feeling in restaurant.

Food and staff just going through motions in order to service mass amounts of tourist guests. Felt like a chain restaurant rather than an authentic French experience.

Presliced bread, portioned (possibly not fresh) cod, mass produced sauces, dessert premeditated as if I was at a banquet facility, etc...

Presentation of seasonal vegetable platter was absolutely stellar.

Not much value on menus either, but again we are in middle of La Baule. Was not very English friendly.

Une belle adresse, qui manque de hauteur.

Commençons par les points négatifs. Une dame en tenue de robe, qui semble avoir un rôle important, n’a pas été très agréable. Elle n’est pas impolie, loin de là, mais son accueil manquait de chaleur. Pour un restaurant qui se veut « haut de gamme », je m’attendais à davantage de convivialité. Par « haut de gamme », j’entends un établissement chaleureux, bien situé et pratiquant des prix relativement élevés.

Concernant les plats, ils n’étaient pas mauvais, mais j’ai été déçu par leur simplicité. La salade, par exemple, a été servie sans assaisonnement, et l’on ne m’en a pas proposé. Les plats du jour n’ont pas non plus été annoncés : ma compagne et moi avons dû constater que d’autres clients prenaient des moules pour demander s’il y en avait, car elles n’étaient même pas inscrites sur la carte. Quant à ces moules, elles manquaient de sauce.

Cependant, soulignons que le lieu est agréable. L’emplacement géographique, proche de la mer, est plaisant, la décoration est originale et l’espace suffisamment vaste pour ne pas être collés aux autres clients.

Malheureusement, pour un établissement de cette catégorie, j’aurais espéré un service plus attentif et des plats plus travaillés. Même si ce restaurant est implanté depuis plusieurs années, il ne me paraît pas à la hauteur de ses voisins comme le Brigitte ou le M. À défaut d’élever la qualité de ses prestations, il serait peut-être plus juste d’adapter ses prix.
