We came across this little Bistro while staying locally awaiting our flight. WARNING if you are not French or cannot speak French I advise you to find elsewhere to eat. We waited around 7 minutes to be acknowledged to even be seated then the server stood outside with regulars smoking while we waited a further 10 minutes to be ofered a drink. There were no red/white wines on the menu and we asked for a red wine Our meals were subpar ( Duck and potatoes incredibly dry overcooked and chewy) and pork and potatoes again very dry and chewy) whilst we were waiting on our meals 2 young Chinese men came in and attempted to traverse the menu with Google translate however the waiter was so incredibly impatient with them and spoke to them loudly and as if they were children. He rolled his eyes and snatched the menus from them and kept yelling at them in French, it was incredibly uncomfortable to watch. The bistro is tiny and everyone is seated almost elbow to elbow. The meals were delivered to the Asian and were clearly not what they had ordered but whilst trying to navigate this with the waiter he simply shouted at the them abd kept repeating "eat it. Eat it very aggressively. Other waiters were laughing and all round it was an awful experience. We were also charged the equivalent of $17 AUD each for our one standard glass of red wine. Appalled all round. If you want to be abused, served basic dry food and over charged by all means eat here. The owners should be ashamed in such a high tourist area right next to the airport to treat...
Read moreSome airport layovers are forgettable. This one wasn’t.
With a one-night stopover at Charles de Gaulle, I wanted something better than a sad airport sandwich but didn’t feel like venturing all the way into Paris. That’s how I ended up in Roissy, a small village that immediately felt like a breath of fresh air—quiet, charming, and the kind of place where life seems to move at a more reasonable pace.
Now, I arrived at this brasserie in less than ideal shape—soaking wet and only half an hour before closing, which is usually the perfect recipe for getting turned away with an apologetic shrug. But instead of a polite dismissal, I was met with genuine warmth. The owner and staff welcomed me in without hesitation, found me a seat, and quickly served up a meal that was far better than I had any right to expect at that hour.
I ordered the chicken burger, thinking it would be a simple, no-fuss choice. It was one of those rare moments where you realize how good a dish can be when made with care. Even in my home town, I’d struggle to find a place that does it this well.
The atmosphere inside matched the village perfectly—vintage, unfussy, and effortlessly inviting. Nothing felt forced or overly polished, just an honest, welcoming spot that knows exactly what it’s doing.
If you ever find yourself near CDG and want a meal that feels like a pleasant surprise rather than a last resort, Roissy—and this brasserie in particular—are well worth a small detour. Just don't take me as an example, maybe bring an umbrella if...
Read moreReview/Warning for American Tourists It seems this establishment isn't very welcoming to American tourists. From the start, the staff appeared annoyed about seating us. The steak was a major disappointment, SEVERELY overcooked to the point of being blackened and tough, despite ordering it medium rare. The waitress forgot our wine order, and when we reminded her, she brought a single glass instead of the 25 cl we requested but charged us for the full amount. Overall, the food was just mediocre and overpriced - way overpriced. Initially, I intended to leave a generous tip since it was our last night in France and I don’t want to bring back all this euro cash, but the subpar food and service changed my mind. It was clear we were not wanted there. Service was non-existent before the food arrived and annoyingly attentive as we were finishing, as if they were eager to clear us out. They kept trying to take away our plates even though they had food on them. Interestingly, the tables occupied by locals were still enjoying their drinks undisturbed. They had the audacity to ask for a tip when we paid. We had to physically get up and go to...
