I was looking forward to a meal at the Gueule et Gosier after it was highly recommended to us. I can't remember a more disappointing dining experience.
The tiny gravadlax cod piece seemed to have missed the curing process and we're totally overwhelmed by the vast amount of sauces on the large plate. I had the pork loin which was actually a chop totally smothered in a thick black sauce with a few seeds sprinkled on top, WOW, i was expecting better. My wifes duck was a wash with sauce also, over cooked with plenty of sinew, not the order of the day.
To top it off the service was terrible too. Not the service staffs fault they were friendly and apologetic but just seemed beat, run off there feet, tired. We did receive free wine for the service which was welcomed, but I'd have much rather paid and had a better experience.
A real shame, if there was magic here, tonight it walked to the river and...
Read moreWent there a couple nights ago, with girlfriends family and the tall guy with really bad tattoos is maybe the most unapproachable waiter who doesn’t understand basic manners. Food is so average and very pretentious. Under seasoned, sauces lacking in flavour and body and pointless purées that add nothing to the dish and just there to give the impression that the chef knows what he’s doing. Terrible desert ‘Iced soufflé’ that was simply strawberry ice cream with an undercooked pistachio base underneath. ‘Pastrami salad’ if you want cold duck go to Plonge et Plonk in Belves because you’ll be sorely disappointed at this pathetic excuse for elevated dining. Best place in Sarlat is Ha Tien or Coin Coin. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THESE IDIOTS.
P.S. I would love the restaurant to offer an excuse for the absolute joke that is their menu, food...
Read moreWe just had a great lunch as a family of 5. A very warm welcome and despite the town is crowded and we didn't book we were able to get seats inside. If you want to be seated outside, booking is recommended. And now: the food is original but traditional and most important locally sourced. The taste was great and our favourite part was that the kids menu was the same as the adult one but halt sized and with 15 Euro more than reasonable. Finally a restaurant which supports the proper education food wise for the next generations. I can not stand kids menus at other restaurants with always the same stuff. Here the kids can eat as the parents and mine enjoyed every bite. Highly...
