Shame on this establishment for calling itself a French Restaurant!!!! We travelled a total of 6 weeks through the south of France and experienced many good meals but sadly this was by far the worst meal we experienced. We had planned on a lovely evening-we enjoyed an aperitif, ordered a bottle of wine but our hearts sank when the main course arrived at our table as it was immediately evident that his establishment is simply a mass feeding of tourists, void of any culinary ambitions whatsoever. Let me elaborate: everything piled to the rim on one plate, potatoes formed in a circle but luke-warm on both meals (most likely pre-made and then quickly heated up), salad drizzled (not properly tossed) with what looked like dressing out of a bottle, sauce in a small ceramic dish sitting in the middle of the plate, an entrecôte that was half fat and inedible, and the worst sin of all-a bread basket full of stale bread that was cool to the touch with other words out of the cooler. We voiced our dissatisfaction to our lovely server and skipped desert as we do not believe in throwing good money after bad.
Having worked myself for many years in the hospitality industry I know the difference between a kitchen that cares and takes pride in what it turns out and one that does not.
Unfortunately the kitchen at Auberge le Mirandol is...
Read moreWe arrived just after a large tour group and sat outside.
The service was unattentive and disorganized. Some tables that came before us were served after us. A table that came 30 minutes after us was served desert the same time as us. Some other people finished dinner and had to wait a long time for desert. We we're served the entre and then waited over 30 minutes for the main plate. Many tables had the same problem. It was hard to get the server's attention. The servers just put the food down and run away. We also waited a long time for the bill and finally had to go to the counter to pay the bill. The dinner took us an hour and forty five minutes.
The food was served hot and with good presentation. The quality and taste was good. However, it was difficult to have a good appetite when waiting so long for each dish.
The decor was nice. They even has a small cave in the back of the restaurant that you can walk in.
Overall, this is the Manager's fault. If the restaurant cannot handle the sudden rush of people, then they should stop taking additional customers for maybe a half hour to get caught up.
The current way, they make more money, but damage the customer's...
Read moreIt is not easy to eat in France if you are a South African with each fiber in your body. A BIG no-no is rare or medium rare meat. In France, you will receive a terrible attitude from chefs when you ask for lamb, pork, beef, or chicken to be thoroughly cooked, 99% of the time. This establishment's staff could speak proper English, had a delightful attitude when asked for our steaks to be well done, delivered the meal fresh, hot, and perfectly cooked! The BEST MEAL we have had in Bordeaux thus far, and believe it or not, we have eaten at each so-called FAMOUS Michelin Star Restaurant in this region. There is a BIG difference between art on a plate and wholesome, flavoursome, honest food. Give me farm to table any day, especially on memorable and...
