One of the iconic third wave coffee spots in town, Bonanza is in the middle of Berlin's Bohemian neighbourhood, near Eberswalder Strasse U-Bahn station. I was first impressed by the high-end approach of this place, very elegant and simple interior as well as the furniture, which offers a quiet corner to rest. What really amazed me was the tasteful combination of their coffee and biscuit. The V60 filter coffee I ordered was very clean textured and juicy in sweet fruity taste. The biscuit was a very simple one with oats and butter, amazing flavour, simple but rich flavour. Actually it inspired me to start to bake oats biscuits! Their beans are always packaged beautifully, I always like buying it as gifts for friends. It is also very identifiable when seeing it in other cafes. I think this is a nice treat after a visit to the biggest flea market in Mauperpark, especially when the time their staff showoff the quirky but nice selection of playlist. The only thing to be aware of is the prices might not be the lowest you can find in Berlin.

Hey there, I was pretty disappointed but maybe it was just a wrong day to be there - so don’t make me stop you from going there. My critic is more for them to adjust if they want to. Our flatwhite was beyond watery, which for the price tag comes with disappointment and definitely different expectations. Didn’t taste like siebtraeger at all. The restroom situation was not cool - super dirty. Don’t get me wrong I live in neukolln - but you know the difference between your favorite club or falafel place and a “hipster expensive coffee place”? The restroom was just dirty. Used hand towel paper on the floor, full bins. I told the people there so they can do something in a friendly way they told me it’s a busy Sunday. Well, but it’s not so busy of a Sunday to lower the price of the coffee so maybe at least clean would be cool. The dirt on the sink was not a busy Sunday thing but just - well: dirty. Won’t come back. I'd say the details don’t match with the image aimed to be created.

Beautiful open space with the rich aroma of coffee beans being freshly roasted. Milk is locally sourced and curated for their bean selection. They offer coffee flights for you to try their different beans. Pastries are from La Maison so it’s the best, but runs out quick. I got the last chocolate croissant. Came here to work on a Wednesday afternoon and is was fairly busy, but not overcrowded. They also don’t offer wifi so I had to hotspot on my phone. Cappuccino was a bit on the milky side and not as rich of a coffee taste. Croissant was delicious. Both came to ~€6.40 Took a star off for the cappuccino and lack of wifi. Would come back again to try their coffee flight and hot chocolate.

"Inländerfeindliche" - Diskrimination !!! Der Café ist gut... um mit etwas Positiven zu starten. Teuer aber gut. Vorraussetztung: Du musst englisch sprechen... sonst bekommst du nichts.

Bedienung: "If its okay, can you speak English?' (Ich, Berlinerin - spreche 4 Sprachen fliessend - kein Problem:) ) Ich: " Sure, we would like to have cappuccino and an Americano"

Bedingung:" We don't make Americano. Can I explain you why?" Ich" you can just make an espresso and put some hot water on it?"

Bedienung: "We don't make Americano. Can I explain you why?" Ich" No. I just take a double espresso"

Bedienung: " You can also go to another cafe, We don't make Americano. Can I explain you why?" Ich: "No we don't want an explanation, we just want some coffee. Please."

Englisch sprechen zu müssen wäre ja noch fast machbar... Unfreundlich und ignorant blieb die Stimmung: Wir mussten einfach gehen.

Liebe Bonanza Bedienung: If you ask a question, you need to learn how to accept the answer. And please learn basic German, just basic... If I would live in another country, I would never be so ignorant, to force the people in they own country to speak my language.

That is another way of discrimination.

My Mom could never get a coffee in her hometown? At least not in Bonanza...

I wish people would be more open. To create a Americano, if someone would like to have one. Please be open for our language and in Berlin it is ALSO German.

I love that Berlin is full of all nations and colours. But please don't go on with this trend of excluding Non-english...

Another less than good review about the poor customer service in this café. I am not even sure that the management will respond, let alone read the ever increasing power of review nowadays, but here goes.

My first time coming here was on a rainy day with my son and we wanted a warm drink. Having acknowledged the fame of the café cum roaster, I ordered the flat white with vegan milk since I'm lactose intolerant, as well as a hot cocoa for the kiddo. The verdict for the flat white: 5 stars, but sadly one star for the cocoa as it was also made with the same vegan milk, which rendered it sour and unpalatable for a young kid. The person who took the order didn't bother to ask and just made the drinks.

The second time around was even worse. It was busy and I ordered an americano, which as other reviewers have pointed out, left a very sour note on the whole experience there. I ended up ordering an espresso and a glass of warm water for the kiddo. When the order was ready, the barista gave us a normal temp water, and when I asked if I can get hot water, he begrudgingly said "we don't put hot water in our espresso." I had to tell him that it's the water for the kiddo. No apologies whatsoever. I felt humiliated and wanted to bolt as quickly as I could.

Suffice to say that it was my last time there....

Cozy, modernly designed coffee place just across from Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg's Mauerpark offering many interesting specialty coffee creations. Waiting times at this café tremendously fluctuate depending on the number of customers on site. There were many times when I went here on an early weekday evening and was able to quickly get my order because I was the only, or one of just a few, customers there, and other times, like today, where the cafe is simply packed (probably due to lots of people visiting the nearby Mauerpark on Sundays) and my one beverage order still doesn't show up after 30 mins of waiting with my pager in hand because staff seems to have forgotten about it.

I really can't blame the actual service staff about this happening during rush hours though, since it seems that not only the number of staff, but also the number of available coffee machines seems to be limited, such that it seems difficult to deal with an above average influx of customers adequately and to guarantee short waiting times at any given day. If management decides to have more people help around the shop during peak hours, such as Sunday afternoons, I believe it could be of great benefit to the service offered at this store of Bonanza Coffee Roasters at...
