Situated along the lively Schönhauser Allee, the KulturBrauerei stands as a captivating cultural complex that pays homage to Berlin's rich industrial heritage while serving as a dynamic hub for arts, entertainment, and community events. This historic brewery turned cultural center offers a multifaceted experience, blending history, creativity, and vibrant urban energy.

Pros:

Historical Significance: The KulturBrauerei's rich history as a former brewery is reflected in its well-preserved industrial architecture, providing visitors with a glimpse into Berlin's industrial past and offering a unique backdrop for a diverse range of cultural and artistic events. Cultural Events: The complex hosts a variety of cultural events, including concerts, art exhibitions, film screenings, and festivals, making it a thriving epicenter for creative expression and community engagement, attracting art aficionados and cultural enthusiasts from all over Berlin. Entertainment and Dining: The KulturBrauerei boasts a selection of entertainment venues, including theaters, cinemas, and live music spaces, alongside a range of dining options that cater to diverse tastes, creating a vibrant and immersive experience for visitors of all interests. Cons:

Crowded During Events: The popularity of events and festivals at the KulturBrauerei can lead to increased foot traffic and congestion, particularly during peak event seasons, requiring visitors to plan accordingly and anticipate larger crowds when attending specific events. Limited Parking: Finding parking in the vicinity of the KulturBrauerei might pose a challenge, especially during busy event nights. However, the area is well-served by public transportation, providing convenient access for visitors traveling to and from the cultural complex. Immerse yourself in the vibrant cultural tapestry of the KulturBrauerei by attending an art exhibition, enjoying a live performance, or simply indulging in the energetic atmosphere of this historic complex. Engage with the local arts community, explore the diverse culinary offerings, and embrace the dynamic spirit that defines the KulturBrauerei as a cultural landmark in the heart of Berlin's...

The place itself is looking nice, they are organizing cool and interesting events. Me and my friends decided to go to the Halloween party yesterday, which as highly advertised on Facebook. We were around 15 people, from different countries. We were entering the place and buying tickets, when the security decided that one of us, an afro american man can't go inside the club and they didn't provide the reason why. We wanted to talk with the manager and we were expecting some explanations why only one of us can't enter, coz of the skin color. They didn't provide us with any information, and later on the security was insulting some of us and telling us that none of us can enter. While we were deliberating on the situation, another 2 black guys arrived and even though their documents were alright, the security didn't let them in. From a place like this I expect a high culture and no segregation of people because of their skin color. Berlin is a multicultural city and such situations shouldn't happen here. We are very disappointed and I don't recommend you to go there, as every person needs respect no matter where...

I was treated like a criminal by power-tripping staff over a handful of change. Take your money elsewhere, because all they will give you in return is their disrespect.

I was falsely accused of stealing just 50c in coins from the tray at the toilet entrance when I was only taking my change back from a 1 Euro coin. The staff didn't speak a word to me, just physically grabbed me and kicked me out of the venue with no opportunity to defend myself.

When my Swiss boyfriend tried to intervene and explain the misunderstanding in German, he was told to F' off back to Switzerland.

This was during a Euro 2024 public viewing event where we had spent 5 hours together, bought multiple drinks, and were happily supporting our home countries while living in Berlin.

It was definitely the most unwelcome either of us has ever felt in this country since we moved here. I don't think I will ever return to this business, and I warn others not to either unless you want...

This place is awesome. I remember the first time I walked through it, when nothing was going on, and I was just so impressed with the immaculate repurposing of the massive complex. This is the place to go for all holidays, markets, and special events. Get on their mailing list and keep updated about everything that goes on there. Here's a video of Weinachstmarkt (Christmas Market) from December 2019. In addition to the special events and times, there's a great cinema there and it's also just a cool place to go through during a normal walk or (if you're a tourist) just to see a great example of one of the many (but also one of the less edgy and more mainstream) repurposed factories in Berlin. Oh, and the Rewe and Gravis here are also great, the dance school is a highlight if you're a local with kids or interested in taking dance or yoga classes, and there is a very special gallery for people with special needs which is fantastic! Go explore it all!

There's a GREAT GDR museum in here which not even locals know about (enter the arch and turn right, see video). It is much better than the 'official' GDR museum plus it's FREE and, in a cool neighbourhood. Museum staff, (unlike the GDR museum) do not feel they need to be in GDR character, ie: These guys smile and are really friendly. I particularly loved the 'revolutionary' camping tent on a car roof, complete with serious male briefs hanging to dry (seems lije a joke but was not). Its exhibits drive home life in East Germany for everyday citizens. TIP: If you go on a Saturday be sure to visit the Kollwitzplatz market a few minutes away.
