So we found this little restaurant in Berlin after reading a Google review. 7 minutes' walk from Yorckstrasse station, you wouldn't think such an out-of-the-way neighbourhood would house such a gem! Friendly service and a nice quiet place, we felt so happy we could've easily stayed all evening there. As it was, we ordered a pizza each and a bottle of wine. It's the same menu for both gluten-free and non (so none of that looking awkwardly through a massive file or feeling like you have the baby menu compared to everyone else), every pizza can be made gluten and lactose-free as required. Now, the most important bit, the taste. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say this pizza is the best pizza I've had: gluten-free or non. It was thin, crispy, loaded with cheese and toppings and non-greasy! Each pizza is freshly-made in the kitchen (I saw the chef making dough) and uses organic eggs for the Gabriela. Both come as a large 12" size for ~8,00 euro each and I surprised myself by finishing the whole thing. These buckwheat pizzas pull apart like normal pizza crust, they don't crumble under the weight of the toppings nor do they have that weird doughy texture of some pre-made mixes. It was like eating a wheat pizza and was just perfect. Next up, the dessert. The pizza is very much centre stage here but that doesn't mean they skipped out on dessert! The panna cotta (vanilla with an orange and berry sauce) was surprisingly light and balanced well with the sauce. The ice cream was bursting with fresh real fruit flavours. All together an amazing experience and well worth going out of our way for! Next time we're in Berlin, we'll be...

Warning ⚠️ ! Dangerous for celiac people! 🇬🇧I had a really bad and dangerous experience at the pizza restaurant - Cielo di Berlino in Berlin - Schöneberg. My husband is celiac and we went to this place on Wednesday to celebrate. We ordered 3 pizzas (2 regular and 1 gluten-free). When a different waiter served the pizzas after a while, he didn’t say which one was gluten-free, so we specifically asked which one the gluten-free one was. He told us that this one is gluten-free. That’s why my husband ate the whole pizza. But after he had finished the pizza, he was getting extremely sick! He threw up many times and had difficulty breathing. So I asked the pizza baker how she ensures that her pizzas are gluten-free. It turned out that she didn’t get the order to make a gluten-free pizza and she was shocked and apologetic! So both waiters obviously made tremendous mistakes and served a gluten pizza to a celiac person! Both of them didn’t apologize! The first one was even kind of mocking me for asking so many questions! They obviously don’t know that being celiac is a serious condition and that it’s life-threatening to ignore this!
I wrote this here to warn other celiacs!
Achtung ⚠️!
Read moreFound this place on Google maps and glad we made the effort to find it - on a corner, it feels friendly and local, with welcoming staff who enjoy their jobs and a big pizza oven, whose warmth greets you as you walk through the door.
The vibe when we visited was busy, warm and cosy and the waiting staff were friendly, making jokes with us and appreciative of our poor attempts to speak German.
I had lasagne which was good and I have it on good authority from the rest of my party that the pizzas were delicious. The wine was also good!
A note on allergies: Our friend is gluten intolerant so it was a relief to find they could provide gluten free bases for him (for a fee). Our friend isn’t coeliac so we didn’t enquire any further to see if it was prepared in a separate place so best to check before travelling there if you...
