The bar would be a 3 star place if it was based on looks but the people they have working there turn it into a 1. First of all they dont accept cards which is already ridiculous in the 21st century, but hey, gotta evade those taxes, am I right? Anyway, we tried paying 70 cents in 1 and 2 cent coins and one of the bartenders called it trash money and refused to accept it. My friend offered to count it for him and he said “you can do whatever you want but Im not gonna take it”. For a place that “accepts everyone” and pretends to be against fascism, racism, sexism and any other -ism that makes you seem self-aware and woke in this day and age, they have a very elitist view towards money. Calling people’s hard earned money “trash money” just because they come in the form of 1 and 2 cent coins is a very dismissive and arrogant way of referring to it. It goes to show that this “anti-establishment” places are in reality the establishment in a city like Berlin where being countercultural IS the culture and bars like this one make a profit from that. Thats why the big banner that shows how woke and accepting they are, thats why all the bartenders look like they live in a squat house together and why they pretend to be a punk joint when they are actually in a prime location of Berlin operating a venue that most places would kill for. This guys are not outcasts and punks. They are the elite, profiting from your ideas, views and need to find a place where you can feel comfortable and accepted. It goes without saying that your money would be better spent literally anywhere else rather than in this elitist, hate-spewing, overpriced, pretentious and dirty bar. If I wanna be looked down at by how Im paying for my beers I would go to some posh restaurant in Charlottenburg or Mitte, not to a filthy joint full of...
Read moreIf you are anything but white German, don't go there ! Yesterday, in this bar that claims to be punk and inclusive, I understood what racism was. I was with a group of friends: several German and French girls and a Tunisian guy (I'm Tunisian too). At one point the girls left and my friend and I stayed to play foosball with other people. We weren't doing anything wrong and we weren't bothering anyone. Out of nowhere, the big bald waiter comes running up to me, grabs my beer and yells at me in German to let me know that pouring my shot of Tequila into my beer was forbidden and apparently a very serious problem. He threw both of us out of the bar with insults because of that. He was even about to hit me. At some point, I tried to ask him what was wrong and if the shot thing was enough to kick someone out but he kept yelling and insulting me and pushing me out. Reading the comments here, I see that this is not new and that the staff of this bar is known to have discriminated against people with brown skin or who speak an Arabic or African language among themselves. It's shameful to claim to be inclusive and have so much hate against people who are different. I don't understand that in such a cosmopolitan and joyful city, people can be so unpleasant and hateful. Shame on you. You don't deserve to be called after...
Read moreIf you are a hard core punk fan or looking for cheap beer, this might be the place for you. It is a bit tricky to find. It has a stage so I assume there is live music some days of the week. There is also a small and cosy biergarten.
We were there late in the afternoon, so It is hard to rate the atmosphere. I guess evening would have been better.
One odd thing was a couple who clearly had a LOT of amphetamine in their systems. The guy was running around like a ball in a pinball machine. His irratic behavior made people feel uneasy, but the barkeeper seemed to know him so he was left alone. It was not really threatening, but we could see a lot of other customers feeling uneasy.
I have no pictures from inside, because It was not allowed.
Anyway, if you love punk rock and don't mind a bit of odd behavior, this might be the...
