I had high hopes for Enzo Sushi Bar on Saturday night, but yet again, I left deeply disappointed with the subpar service. For a place targeting high-end customers, they failed miserably at even the basics of hospitality.
First impressions matter, and not being greeted at the door, being poorly directed to our reserved table, and having dishes and chopsticks thrown onto the table was an unpleasant start. As shown in the pictures I’ve attached, I was seated right in front of the sushi fridge. Instead of the clean and organized environment you’d expect from a professional sushi establishment, there was chaos on full display.
The service was no better. We ordered the house sake selection, but the waitress kept saying, "I don’t know the differences," and couldn’t explain why the sakes were served in that particular order or provide any helpful insights. When my wife asked if the first sake could be served warm, as the menu suggested, the response was rude: "You should have asked that during ordering." How unprofessional for a place charging premium prices.
The food itself was decent, but the service ruined the experience. After just 15 minutes of sitting down, the waitress asked if we wanted more food because the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes. Seriously? This isn’t a döner shop—where even they manage to accommodate customers until closing time.
We reluctantly ordered another chef’s selection sushi, and it was the final straw: a roll with asparagus, flambéed tuna, and a spicy sauce on top. It looked great - the tuna - supposed to be the highlight, was entirely overshadowed by the overwhelming sauce. It was a disgrace to what sushi should be.
It’s shocking how customers still tolerate such terrible service in Berlin (Germany). For the prices Enzo Sushi Bar charges, they should at least invest in a great hostess (or manager) who knows how to create a welcoming atmosphere, explain the menu properly, and elevate the overall hospitality. Dining out should be about more than just food - it’s about the experience, the ambiance, and feeling welcomed. But just maybe, Enzo's owner or manager and hostress doesn't care after all, maybe they never had a decent experience. Maybe they just repeat what they see in Berlin. Unfortunately, Enzo Sushi Bar failed on all counts. Ok food with idiotic and stupid service....
Read moreSushi-Imbiss experience with approximately 30-40 e/p.p. price on average, unfortunately. I have been to the place several times earlier, and it was better. I will not come back after today. "Mehr schein als sein" - interior design is pretty, but the food quality was disappointing. I wonder if this is targeted to a particular clientele which does not care as much for the food quality as for the design of the place: dim lights, oak benches, truffel-mayo. I don't mind that and actually enjoy a nice design, but then please provide us with ok food and keep this design well maintained. The bathroom was pretty filthy, with no option to dry hands and some weird liquid next to the toilet (pee?). The waiters were serving people and preparing sushi/making drinks at the same time, which felt strange; customers had to ask for some attention. Sushi and Nigiri quality was low - fish itself seemed fine, but the pieces were so small, with barely any rice, cut in unequal parts and sushi was often falling apart. We also ordered chicken as a starter, and one piece of it was borderline raw. According to the cook, this is how it should be, but tbh it did not feel safe to eat the semi-raw chicken, which we didn't. They were nice and did not count it into the bill, this is why I give the review 2 stars. Otherwise the experience felt somehow stressful and kind of money- and not quality-oriented: serve as much people as possible and rotate them. Perhaps they are low on staff (one of whom was very friendly), but then they should hire...
Read moreI really loved this place! If you are into sushi I can almost guarantee that you will love this place too. Everything seemed absolutely wonderful from the table decoration when we walked in to the fantastic, attentive and friendly service to the actual food and cocktails. And let me rave a little more about the food. This is not your “standard” sushi place, really. It’s rather fine-dining sushi for a more special occasion. 😁 We trusted Long and his crew by going for one of their “we got you covered, don’t worry” menu options which come in 3 price categories (€20, €30, €50) and we never looked back. 😅 An absolutely delicious combination of their sushi creations that made it very difficult to pick a favorite. To me the most flavorful was the one with the little “truffle eggs” on top but the most unique and surprising creation was the (read up on it). To follow up this amazing platter, we went for extremely mouthwatering and tender wagyu beef bites (135g, 9 pieces for €50). I almost did not want to chew this dish but rather just put it in my mouth and let it melt on my tongue. 🤤😅 To complete our experience we asked for a variety of their mochi and a yuzu sorbet. Absolutely my kind of night!!...
