I did not even knew this place existed until I read the Still in Berlin review (google for it, links are not allowed in reviews...) This is a cute little tucked-away place that only does dinner on Wednesdays to Sundays. You also must reserve, since they only make about 40 portions each day. You can reserve by calling or emailing (gobento AT live dot de) Also, they provide free tea, but you have to bring your own drinks! Now, on to the food: there is no menu here. The chef comes to explain what he is offering today, and makes you a beautiful, lovingly hand-crafted bento box based on whether you eat meat, fish, dairy, etc. We had a sweet beancurd dumpling with aubergines, a little burger/taco filled with tender corn fed chicken, some edamame beans in a sesame and soy dressing, some home-made coleslaw topped with half a grape (great pairing). Oh, and this place also has the only pickled ginger that I have actually ever enjoyed eating! We followed it with some smoky but tender chicken skewers, and onigri topped with perfectly breaded chicken. Everything was just really delicious. Service: the owner is super friendly! However, he appears to be run the shop by himself, so there may be some waiting involved. But no worry, they have lots of games to keep you entertained, or you can read the manga that is also part of the wallpaper. Price: considering the amount of time it must have taken to prepare and assemble the bento box, it is a bargain - under...

Being that said, this a small but nice Japanese restaurant with a 3 course menu for 23€ per person.
The first plate is the bento box with some combinations of rice, salmon along with other things. I may confess it was good and different from a few bento boxes that I have tried. This is the only plate that you get one to each person.
The second is the sliced beef with the vegetarian tiny burger. This you get a single olate to share with another person. The meat was very soft and tender, the point of the meat was perfect for me, but you see that it is medium. However the small burger got me, it was my favourite by far.
In the end the dessert: A Belgian waffle with cream and strawberries. This was absolutely amazing, no words to describe, simply perfect! That's also one single plate to share.
One small point to pay attention: you need to bring your own drinks, beer, juice, whatever..
Like i said the place is small and there's only one guy(he is really nice btw) doing everything.
The reason for 4 stars? I think it was a bit pricey for everything. It was good but I guess it could be less than that, but that's...
Read moreI don’t want to say like this because I know owner pretty much long times but i guess he isn’t change something important thing between he and customers. Two years ago, I made reservation on my first wedding anniversary day. At Reservation day, we arrived there on time. But he didn’t show up and didn’t pick up the calls. So many other customers were waiting more than 4h as well. So... my first wedding anniversary day was hungry and sad day. Really..... awful day.. After that, we never go there again. We did trust him but he put it away our trust. If he pick up the call one time, it will be totally okay. We could understand his situation. His foods are so nice but we are not going there anymore. I don’t want to wait there 4h again. I would like to say to him, Please don’t loosing trust and don’t give people...
