Hotel is in a great location. Easily accessible and there is parking in front and as well in the side streets. I think most of the rooms are streetwise located which makes it tough for me to sleep at night as like to have the window open. Noise only starts turning down around 1-2am and starts back up at around 630-700. As such I'd say bring some ear plugs if you like the window open. As for the rooms, I am staying in a business room and am completely happy. The beds can either be pushed together, or they can stay seperaten. Beds are box spring and rather comfy. Aside from that the room was clean and even had a stocked mini bar (costs extra) as well as a few snacks like instant coffee, tea, nuts, and gummi bears. The bathroom has a nice rain shower head, but also a movable wand if you choose to use that. Hair dryer is also available. Only thing that confused me, was the fact that upon entering the hotel you won't find reception on the first floor. You actually have to walk up stairs and that's where you'll find it (meaning it feels more like the 3/4th floor based on stair cases you walk). Aside from that, can't say much. I can't say much about breakfast either, as I...
Read moreI have just stayed here for 2 nights to see my son who is living nearby so I chose it to be near him as opposed to staying nearer the centre. |It’s a business, no frills hotel. The entrance is not nice and smells like most of the area and you then take a lift up to reception which is small and joined to the breakfast area. The rooms are basic but ok. There is no real pillow menu (if you like that kind of thing). The bathrooms are nice and the shower works well. There’s clever lighting in the room. I did complain that although the curtains were blackout, they didn’t stretch across the windows so was a bit disappointing but to be fair when I went out they put it an extra curtain very quickly. It’s a very basic hotel and in an unpleasant area where drugs are sold on every corner. It would not be my usual choice and I’d say it’s 3 star not 4 but management were very helpful and acted immediately when needed. Breakfast was extremely basic but you can ask and they will oblige. Would I come back? Possibly, for one or two nights but only to be near my son. There’s also no air con so imagine it’s very hot in the summer. There are not many other choices in the area...
Read moreNo air conditioning was a huge problem. The room was quite humid when we entered and after asking about air conditioning or a fan we were offered a glass of ice.
Opening the windows offered a breeze as well as the sounds from the street - cars, trains, pedestrians and sirens. To sleep we needed to close the window as the noises were too much and the room was then much cooler. However, only a few hours later I woke up in a sweat and had to open the windows which then meant a very restless sleep because of the noise from outside.
This was the worst sleep at a hotel I've ever had.
Reception and entry are dated, concierge was quite lifeless and disinterested. Rooms were clean but also dated and dull. Bathroom was clean and modern. Great choices in the mini bar and Turkish sweets by the bed a very nice touch. Wifi was excellent. Location is great for public transport and in an interesting part of the city. All of that considered, I don't believe their rates are good value overall.
In cooler months, this hotel may be fine. In summer I can only imagine it would be even worse, thoroughly unbearable. If you've already booked,...
