Lemke am Schloss — Restaurant in Berlin

Brauhaus Lemke is a place that is one of its own kind. Well technically its not true, since there are more then just One restaurant nowadays but its still a very special brewery/restaurant.

Ive visited Lemke since the beginning in 99 and its a restaurant that has given me many fond memories but that also in the last couple of years downgraded on my personal scale.

In the beginning, lemke had a big menu with great varieties and no sign of being a restaurant with burgers or other fast food. You came here to eat german rustik food and drink beer. Period. Lemke had a great schweinzhaxxe (porkknuckle) and the portions were astonishing.

About five years ago, Lemke changed their appearance and started to sell their own beer brand. Today they have about 12 different sorts of beer and if you visit charlottenburg, then you should definitly try their Beer, since they are fantastic. You can also buy them in bottles and take them home with you. And yes you should, they are that good. But even if the beer is fantastic, Lemkes menu has downsized and today its not as half as good as it was before. Sure, you can still get good food, but i promise you that you can get a better foodexperience in Berlin then this. The porkknuckle is sadly not as good anymore, and hamburgers have found their way into the menu. Even the hamburgers arent made in the restaurant but is dull frozen patty that is squeezed between a bun with some condiments... but it tastes good, so why bother.

If you visit Lemke you should visit for the beer. Food is second. A tip is to order a beertasting menu where you can taste five different sorts of beer to enjoy. As a sideorder to that I would recommend the flammenkuchen, a german style pizza, which is really good.

Great beer, beautiful decor, nice location across from the palace, decent food, horrible, horrible service. Every time I've gone here it hasn't even been at half capacity yet the lazy, disinterested staff just seem to forget customers exist after they walk in. The last straw was yesterday, when the waiter saw me enter and sit down in the mostly empty restaurant but just stood around and had to be told by the barman to take my drink order 5-10 minutes later (and I had to wave and get the barman's attention for even that to happen). I was ready to put up with even that, but seeing him slowly saunter over while staring at his phone made me stand up, call him out for such terrible service and walk out without ordering, something I've never done before. I won't be going back.

If management reads this please, PLEASE do something about your serving staff - either train and regulate them properly or replace them with people who even pretend to care about their jobs. You'd be a great brewpub otherwise but if this keeps up your reputation will start to tank, if it...

A tourist trap.

Es ist wirklich unfassbar, wie schlecht und grauenvoll man in diesem Etablissement behandelt wird. Man muss sich wirklich als Berliner schämen, wenn man mit Bekannten hier her geht.

Nachdem wir über 45 Minuten auf das Essen gewartet haben - u.a. Fish und chips und Cäsarsalad, was keine 10 Minuten in Anspruch nimmt - habe ich höflich gefragt, wann wir mit dem Essen rechnen können. In zehn Minuten, bekam ich als Antwort und wurde ganz schnippisch belehrt, dass es nirgends in Berlin mehr Personal gäbe und das vollkommen normal sei und es überall in Berlin solange dauert. Da meine Freunde Englisch sprachen, glaubte sie, wir seien Touristen, worauf ich Sie hinwies, dass ich aus Berlin sei. Dann stellte Sie sich als Opfer dar und fragte, was Sie mir denn raten würde, worauf ich nichts sagte.. Danach dauerte es nochmal über eine halbe Stunde. Ob das Essen gut oder schlecht war, konnten wir nicht wirklich beurteilen, so ausgehungert und genervt wie wir waren. Es war zudem extrem heiss also bestellten wir natürlich noch mehr Getränke in der ewigen Wartezeit. Als es ans Zahlen ging, fragte ich sie, ob wir einen Ersatz für die lange Wartezeit bekämen und wer uns die zusätzliche Stunde bezahlen würde, die wir jetzt für unsere Mieträder entrichten mussten und ebenso mussten wir unsere geplante Route verkürzen, weil wir hier festgesetzt waren. Sie wurde richtig bösartig und blaffte mich an, wir hätten doch was zum Essen bekommen. Daraufhin meinte ich nur, dieses Restaurant sei einfach nur unglaublich schlecht gemanagt und bin gegangen. Sie schrie noch hinterher, wir sollten gefälligts beim nächsten Mal zu Mc Donalds gehen oder daheim essen! Unsere Bekannten waren völlig fassungslos. Die Tage zuvor waren wir in wunderbaren Restaurants mit guten und schnellen Service, umso mehr konnten sie nicht glauben, wie man hier behandelt wird.

Ich habe noch niemals eine so unfähige, eingebildete Bedienung erlebt. Diesem Restaurant sind Kunden völlig egal, weil keiner sowieso ein zweites Mal kommt. Es lebt von den Touristen, die Charlottenburg ansehen. Wenn man zu wenig Personal hat, weist man entweder die Kunden darauf hin, dass es lange dauert könne oder man reduziert die Plätze um die Kunden die kommen, nicht vollkommen zu verärgern. Aber nichts von alledem wird hier praktiziert. Hier dagegen wird man nur beleidigt. Eine Touristenfalle ist das hier,...
