This is by far my favourite When it comes to italian food in Berlin. Ive been coming here since 2007 and its always a pleasure.
Opera italiana and Dante are two italian restaurants that lie in charlottenburg and they are two great choices if you want italian dining. However, even if I really like Dante, Opera Italiana is my first choice.
The restaurant is made to look like a italian stereotype with an italian wall that resembles an alley in a italian city. It has lots of photos of italian celebrities and the backgroundmusic is, yes you guessed it, italian music.
Opera italiana offers you a great variety of italian dishes from pizzas to pesce and carne. They have a great varieties of wine and they will gladely recommend you a wine of their choice if you dont know what you would should drink to your pasta.
Their starterplate for two persons is by far, one of the best starterplates ive ever had with lots of italian dishes and sidedishes in miniature size. Try it, you will love it.
Their pasta is fresh and opera italiana makes sure that it looks great on your plate.
My personal favourite When it comes to meat is their entrecote that is served with pasta. The meat is perfectly grilled and juicy, and combined with pasta, its a pleasure both for the eyes and the tastebuds. Try it!
The only downside to opera italiana is that they, like all other italian restaurants in Berlin, will give you tagesgemüse and potatoes with almost all their meat/fish dishes, which is kind of boring as a sidedish. Also, opera italiana does not serve any italian beer. Some would Say its good, but I think its a bit odd. However, you will get a perfect Radeberger at opera italiana, so you will find good beer there.
If i would summon opera italiana together, i would say that you will love everything on their menu and that you must try it if you like italian food. Its a italian...
Read moreI came into this restaurant very excited and optimistic to have authentic Italian food, as soon as my family and I were seated, we were not taken seriously. 4/7 of us actually got to order for ourselves before the waiter basically told us what he would serve us. He wouldn't even let me order the food I wanted telling me he would make me "his favorite pizza". As I was looking at the menu he was messing with me, (made a pen mark on my hand, flicked my menu, and winked at me). I didn't take it seriously until I got up to use the restroom alone, and I walked into the restaurant approaching our waiter when he then asked me to take a selfie with him, he pulled out his phone and then groped me and kissed me on the cheek. I pulled myself away and ran down the stairs to the restroom. When I was finished using the restroom he was waiting for me at the top of the stairs. He grabbed my hand and tried directing me somewhere and I pulled my hand away exclaiming, "no what the heck" and walked back outside to the table where my family was sitting. Seconds later he brought drinks we ordered outside and said, "I'm sorry I like the blonde girl" I felt very uncomfortable and unhappy with my food! When my aunt and uncle talked to the manager the offending waiter insisted on translating to the manager about the incident, we were not taken seriously and given the impression this happens on a daily basis but the manager is only worried his waiter will be hit! Instead of how his customers feel!!! If you are a woman, do not come here alone!!!!! I felt very offended, violated and disrespected when I left!! This is a reoccurring issue that they do not...
Read moreReally comfortable place with lots of ambiance. We sat outside and really looked forward to some excellent food. My husband had lasagna, which was delicious (I had a bite). I was looking for something special in a spaghetti with meat sauce. The disappointment was with our waiter. I felt that once he realized we were not from Europe, his whole demeanor changed. When I explained I wanted meat sauce he said "oh I have just the thing for you." Unfortunately it wasn't the thing I was looking for. It was cut up steak dropped on the spaghetti. When I asked for a side of garlic bread he said "no, no bread." I looked over to the table next to us and I could see they had a basket of bread, albeit it may have been pita or naan. All I wanted was some bread. The spaghetti I had was..."meh." A little on the plain side for me. Possibly a language barrier for the meat sauce, or perhaps a waiter that didn't like tourist, I don't know. Because of the experience with our waiter, I give this restaurant a GENEROUS 3 stars. It's not just about the food, it's the whole experience that makes people want to come back. I don't want to eat somewhere that the waiter isn't friendly or doesn't listen to...
