Sadly it is not 100% halal, I would suggest taking off the (100% halal sticker) on the window, because it is misleading.
According to the staffs (ask the older ones since they know more), only beef, chicken, and duck are halal BUT only the fresh ones, for example, the sliced beef rolls aren't halal, i didn't get any inners or chicken feet and (beef) balls because I assume they aren't halal.
The number 1 broth is also not muslim-friendly.
A tip: choose your veggies and noodles/carbs first, THEN choose your animal proteins, so you don't contaminate the veggies and carbs for the vegetarians and vegans.
Good news is, the staffs are very friendly, they are ready to help and don't mind at all explaining which ones are halal which ones are not, they also said that they can cook the hotpot separately, just make sure to say to the cashier that your bowl is halal bowl. I assume this works too for those that have allergies (like shellfish and the likes) or for the vegans/vegetarians, you can ask for your own bowl to be cook separately
Tip for the owner: instead of putting "100% halal sticker", you can just add the halal logo on the products/menus that are actually halal, that would be easier for the customer and the owner, I know that for the individual ingredients, the name plate are still in production, it would be good the the broth sections also have...
Read morethis is my new favourite malatang place in Berlin. The price is standard it’s a little over 3€/100g. I usually pay less than 15€ and I’m always so full afterwards. There is a minimum amount you have to pay for, i think it was 400g. I wish they’d just let you eat as much or as little as you want. i think this practice some malatang places have adapted only promotes food waste. It’s often pretty crowded but we’ve always found a place to sit unlike at other very small places - this one’s huge. The selection is good. There’s 3 big fridges with everything from veggies meat seafood to mushrooms and all kinds of tofu. So it’s perfect for vegans! The sauce bar has everything you need (sesame/peanut sauce, chilli oil, cilantro, garlic etc.) What stands out at this place compared to other malatang restaurants in berlin is there is 3 (!!) vegan broth options. usually at other places the only vegan option is tomato broth. i tried tom yum and it’s very tasty. definitely...
Read moreFood is solid (i took medium spicy 6.9/10), took it to go, one thing is you HAVE to reach max 400 grams (3,29€ per 100g). Service is a 3.5/10, not exactly nice/welcoming and don’t offer mich service for inexperienced customers, also other small things like forgetting to give me the number for my food etc. The place was fine, 6/10. The for me “worst” was the ingredients they used, they were either very cheap or were not fresh, such as the squid, meat, sausages etc. which defeated my appetite (there are picture’s of some i posted). So that’s a 1-2/10. Overall i wouldn’t go there again, given the conditions and the overall comparison with other such as pangge etc. This is all just my opinion and i hope this is respected, wish you guys would give a tutori for newly introduced customers and have better/more fresh...
