UPDATE ON THIS REVIEW -
NEW REVIEW- I used to come here all the time and loved it, but returning, things seem to have changed. The service is slow, you can’t pay with card anymore and the atmosphere on this visit was not what it used to be. It’s not run by the same owners, so maybe thats it. We sat outside (summer) and it was fine but going inside (to order drinks because there was only one person serving everyone so getting table service after being told it was table service was difficult) it was sad, not at all what I remember. Awful lighting, no music and a disorganized bar. The bathroom feels like a storeroom. Pity, Pennyshort used to be awesome, with a welcoming vibe and incredible drinks and service. Now it just feels like one of a thousand bars in Berlin. Sure you can get an (slightly more expensive than one is used to) drink but it’s not a destination anymore. One last thing their Guinness pour is not good, and now 6euros instead of 5.

So if you are facing problems with food that makes you addicted and want to leave me there in silence with no waiting rows:...

Also: a sense of humour! Something lacking in Berlin… lmao. I think the waiters were both Irish. In any case, the cocktails were phenomenal. If I were to be hanging out in this Kiez again at night, this is definitely where I’d go for a drink.
Edit: I’ve just realised they also do food. I need to...
