Pho 12 — Restaurant in Berlin

As a person of Vietnamese descent that has eaten Vietnamese food across a variety of different countries (including Vietnam), the pho here was mediocre at the very best. Overall, the food was highly disappointing but the environment was pleasant.

The broth did not have any of the distinct flavours of pho and resembled generic beef stock at best. At worst, I felt like the broth was simply salted water served at soup temperature. The pho broth is probably the most important aspect of the meal and has is woefully inadequate at Pho 12.

Second, the meat to noodle ratio of the beef pho (Pho Bo) was alarmingly inadequate. In total, there was likely around 50-80g of beef in the entire portion. This is less than half of what is usually served in most pho restaurants.

The redeeming factors of the restaurant were all unrelated to food. The price was reasonable, the location accessible, the environment was clean and the decor of the restaurant was chic. This makes it a decent location for a light dinner if you do not expect authentic...

Don't bother with this place, if it's Pho you want-it's only OK. Kind of bland and salty. Even throwing a ton of chilli at it didn't make much difference. There are much nicer and tastier places in Berlin. The restaurant is very dated, cushioned benches were uneven from too much use and uncomfortable to sit on and the Vietnamese chef/server was rather rough. Clientele mainly German and seniors. Katastrophale Verschlechterung nach Besitzerwechsel!

Ich kann gar nicht in Worte fassen, wie unglaublich enttäuscht und wütend ich nach meinem letzten Besuch in diesem ehemals großartigen Restaurant bin. Seit dem Besitzerwechsel ist ALLES den Bach runtergegangen! Was früher ein Juwel der Gastronomie war, ist nun ein Schatten seiner selbst.

Die Qualität des Essens ist unterirdisch. Meine Lieblingsgerichte, die früher vor Geschmack explodierten, sind jetzt fad und lieblos zubereitet. Die Portionen sind geschrumpft, aber die Preise sind gestiegen! Es scheint, als würde der neue Besitzer nur auf Profit aus sein, ohne sich um die Zufriedenheit der Gäste zu kümmern.

Der Service war ein absoluter Alptraum. Das Personal wirkte völlig desinteressiert und unprofessionell. Es dauerte Ewigkeiten, bis wir überhaupt unsere Getränke bekamen, und als das Essen endlich ankam, war es lauwarm und ungenießbar. Auf meine Beschwerde hin wurde ich nur arrogant abgewiesen.

Die Atmosphäre im Restaurant hat sich ebenfalls drastisch verschlechtert. Es herrschte eine unangenehme Hektik und die gemütliche, einladende Stimmung von früher ist komplett verschwunden. Man fühlt sich einfach nicht mehr willkommen.

Ich bin zutiefst traurig, dass ein Ort, der mir so viel bedeutet hat, so ruiniert wurde. Es bricht mir das Herz, sagen zu müssen, dass ich dieses Restaurant nie wieder betreten werde. Mein Rat an alle: Spart euer Geld und eure Nerven und geht woanders hin!
