Berlins oldest Chinese restaurant.
The interior is a little ran down but i do love the old-school style. Red walls, glass tables carved roofing gives the resteraunt a lovely ambience. We felt cosy. Again, oldschool look and far away from fancy new builds. But exactly that gives the place it's Charme.
A picture on the wall with the original owner brings you back in time and makes you respect the place and it's history and therefore carrying the title of the first Chinese restaurant in Berlin.
Food on the other hand was kinda mediocre and very much catered to the European taste. The duck was more on the dry side but dunking it in the i believe hoi sin sauce safed it. Nothing really outstanding for our taste buds.
The staff on the other hand was very welcoming and helpful.
2 mains , 3 starters, 2 pots of tea 45 euro seemed fair to me as we actually enjoyed the ambience and we had a...

Guten Appetit!

Lon Men is a real institution - even in my childhood, Lon Men in Marienfelde played a culinary role for me. Lon Men stands for authentic Chinese cuisine and so it is with Lon Men in Berlin Schöneberg.
We have already ordered here several times and have always been pleasantly surprised. We especially noticed that the sauces of the individual dishes differed in taste as well as consistency - which means that there is no "one-size-fits-all sauce" here, but that they still cook with love.
We were particularly taken with the Chinese ribs - butter-tender in a strong sauce and the "economy version" of Peking duck. This is a crispy breast of duck, served with the ingredients actually known for Peking duck - very tasty.
The only shortcoming, we have identified so far is that some dishes - unfortunately also the great ribs - were seasoned differently over the various orders. Despite everything, I would give the Lon Men a clear recommendation.
Enjoy your meal!

Read moreOkay-let’s understand one thing. Chinese food in ANY country than China will always be different. But let’s also understand that the quality of food and service can be still excellent. Unfortunately-in the case of this restaurant - neither was provided. The food had certainly nothing to do with Chinese food (expected). The quality was below average (way below), the service … did not know what he was doing OR what he was selling. I would not come back here. The price is absolutely unjustified. With this many good Chinese restaurants around - I wonder how this restaurant is still around. It maybe the oldest - but it’s certainly far away from being anywhere in the Top 40 even. Even you plan to come...
