PHO BAY — Restaurant in Berlin

The food is middling - not any better or any worse than any other standard Vietnamese place in Berlin. However, if you have any dietary restrictions (vegan, vegetarian, allergies, etc.) this is not the place for you. I ordered #27 fried noodles with Tofu, and found chicken in my meal. This was extremely disappointing as I've been vegetarian for 20 years. The woman next to me explicitly ordered her meal with out onions as she has an onion allergy. Naturally there were onions in her noodles and after half heartedly picking around them, she gave up and left disheartened. This was new years day, not a great way to start the year for either of us. Additionally, the service is middling at best. They are friendly enough but I had to walk to the bar to order, walk to the bar to tell them there was chicken in my meal, walk to the bar to pay... etc. I've been here three times: in 2014, 2020, and 2024. I'm not sure why I continue to see if they've improved, as in all that time they haven't. Instead I would go to V'uisine just a block away, which produces excellent Vegetarian and Vietnamese food for less cost, better service,...

The best Vietnamese food I've tried in Berlin so far!

The atmosphere and food here are great. I highly reccomend trying one of the large soup options, my favorite is with Wantans (#23).

PHO BAY is also a great option to order delivery with Lieferando. All the food is packed seperately and with cardboard pieces as insulation to keep cold items cold, and hot items hot. Liquid items are carefully packed and wrapped so that they never spill, insuring a restaraunt quality meal at home. This really impressed me because I've had problems with delivery from other...

Would not recommend to vegetarians/vegans.

I ordered a pho with veggie toppings, I read the ingredient list carefully to make sure it’s vegetarian (on the menu it just says “Gewürzbrühe”, nothing about animal products). But when the food arrived I immediately recognized the smell and taste of beef broth. I called the place to ask and indeed they confirmed they put bones in the broth, even though it’s not specified in the menu. Very inconsiderate practice towards any non-meat eaters.

Please label your ingredients properly!
