I walked past the place twice before I figured out that the entrance is inside and on the first floor (second floor for American readers) of the apartment block that this motel is located in. You ring the door bell, the door is buzzed open, and you then need to go through two dark corridors, stand in front of a lift that doesn't work for a while, figure that the lift won't come and then go up a dark staircase - all led by nothing other than your intuition coz there are no signs, or even if there are signs it's too dark to read them - to get to reception. There, you will find a member of staff who is totally unapologetic for the lack of signage but friendly enough otherwise. They will give you your room key and watch you as you walk down the wrong corridor and come back again before pointing out that to get to your second floor (third floor for American readers) room you need to go back out into the apartment block and up the stairs (again, dark). Then you will get to your room and you'll marvel at how they managed to cram a bed, desk and bathroom into such a small space. You'll open the wardrobe to hang up your jacket but find that there are no hangers, and you'll go to the bathroom and find that you need to sit on the toilet sideways for the lack of any legroom. But other than all this, it's fine, clean, and, yes, cheap (for Berlin) and cheerful....
Read moreI made a reservation via booking.com with this hotel. something went wrong during the reservation and I ended up having two reservations: one for 5 nights and one for 3 nights which is the one I wanted. A few days before arrival, I received only one text message from the hotel giving me the number of my room and explanations on how to check-in. When I arrived on the first day of my reservation, I paid cash for the three nights. The person at the check-in desk didn't inform me then that I had 2 reservations and that I was a no-show for the night before. Nor did I received any e-mail or message regarding that other booking. When I left 3 days later, I realized that money had been charged to my card by the hotel. So I went back there and asked what it was all about. Only then did they tell me that I had two reservations. I asked them why they didn't inform me of that on my arrival. They didn't have an answer to give me and they categorically refused to reimburse me and said I should deal with booking. They were really rude as well. I strongly recommend not to book at this hotel because they obviously don't know the meaning of customer service. If I could put 0...
Read moreAre you new to Berlin? Do you want an affordable place to stay while you look for an apartment of your own? Then look no further than Motel Blue!! I stayed there for a month and a half and it was a great place to stay in! The room is small but clean, there is a fan if you run hot like myself, the bathroom is nice and the water is strong, the closet is big, the bed is comfortable and the sheets are clean, and the staff are super friendly and incredibly helpful. When you walk out of the building, you'll notice that there are restaurants and cafes all around you, there is a supermarket right across the street, the U Hohenzollern platz is on the left side across the street so you can go anywhere in berlin from there, the area is very close to Kurfurstendam, Zoologicher Garten and many other important locations. This place is the best place to be if you are new to Berlin.
