Taverna Apollon — Restaurant in Berlin

Don't eat here. Everything that's not meat is out of a can or jar (meat also probably the cheapest they can find).

We were served 1 shot each of some kind of watered down wine/cherry juice which had an extra ice cube in the shot, so as to justify the watered down taste. This was on the house, but it's just setting the mood for the disappointment to come.

Eggplant salad - sour, bitter, out of a jar

Zaziki - ok (according to girlfriend)

Bean soup - straight outta the can

Tiropitakia (cheese triangles) - frozen store garbage, deep fried, then microwaved (???) and presented to you on a plate without soaking the disgusting deepfry oil (couldn't even let them rest on a paper towel first)

Vegetables (in a salad or put on top of the zaziki - tomato, cucumber, carrot) - cheapest, tasteless things you can get in the shop (insult to Greek grown vegetables)

Peppers - straight out the jar, cheapest jar of vinegar peppers you can find (tasted bitter, old, salty - initially, we thought we were ordering roasted peppers, our bad tho, German not our strong suit)

Cafe Frappe - Soluble dried coffee with cold water, mixed to create foam. Literally cold water with nasty instant coffee.

Cola - it's cola

We also asked for bread and ice in the cola. They did not bring ice and also gave us 3 slices of the tiniest bread lying around.

From what I could see on other people's plates, the fries they were making were frozen, and the meat dishes looked dry, however, we did not order past the above, as this disgusting pile of garbage ran us 30 eur.

After asking for the bill, the guy didn't even bat an eye and came to give it to us. No question as to why we are leaving or if something is wrong with our food. This tells me that they know exactly why we are leaving and what kind of garbage they are serving.

We were looking for something even better than Villa Christina in Mariendorf. The strange part is that they are both rated as 4.2, yet Villa Christina, to which we promptly left for as soon as I paid the bill, had the opposite experience to give us.

In short, don't waste your money on this garbage. It's overpriced canned food. An insult to food in general, and a crime against...

Zusammenfassung: veraltete Speisekarte, keine Info über Veränderungen bei den Speisen; vor Bestellung keine Info darüber, dass Lamm nicht verfügbar; Essen maximal Durchschnitt; ab zwei Stunden vor Feierabend keine Motivation der Kellner; Kellner Maske unter Nase getragen.

Lange Version: Wir waren 7 Personen, die vorher für Samstagabend 18 Uhr reserviert hatten. Impfnachweise und Ausweis wurden kontrolliert, auf den Tischen lagen Luca-QR-Codes. Der Kellner hatte meist die Maske unter der Nase auch während er sich über den Tisch beugte. Ich vermute aus Hygienegründen, gab es die Speisekarte nur als laminiertes Blatt, was etwas oll aussieht, aber kein Ding. Wir konnten recht schnell Getränke und Speisen bestellen und bekamen die Getränke zügig. Kurze Zeit später wurde mitgeteilt, dass die Lammspieße nicht verfügbar seien. Der Kellner nahm die neue Bestellung auf, verschwand und kam kurze Zeit später wieder zurück um zu sagen, dass auch die Lammfilets nicht da seien. Die Lammfilets waren der Grund warum unser Gastgeber überhaupt hier reserviert hatte. Entsprechend war die Stimmung. Der Kellner blieb am Tisch stehen, wärend verzweifelt etwas anderes ausgesucht wurde. Als Entschuldigung gabs Ouzo, den wir aber wahrscheinlich auch so bekommen hätten. Das Essen.. Luft hol Der Fisch von der Fischplatte war viel zu durch und trocken, sagte der Esser, der seinen Fisch sowie eigentlich lieber durch hat. Zu den Scampispießen gab es statt Cocktailsauce Taramas (Fischrogencreme, meine ich). Was überhaupt nicht gepasst hat und unerwartet nochmal schlechter war. Bei Nachfrage wurde mitgeteilt, dass es schon seit drei Monaten keine Cocktailsauce gäbe und die Speisekarte veraltet sei. Es wurde auf Wunsch Tsatsiki gebracht. Die Pommes waren wabbelig, die Wedgets auch, die warme Vorspeisenplatte war solala. Als die Abendessenzeit vorbei war, leerte sich das Restaurant und außer uns waren zwei bis drei weitere Tische besetzt. Ab halb 10/10 Uhr abends wurde es sehr schwer die Kellner nochmal an den Tisch zu bekommen. Sie standen lieber gelangweilt am Tresen am anderen Ende des Lokals. Zitat unseres Gastgebers, der bisher fand, dass dieses Restaurant sein Liebstes sei: Das einzig gute war das Bier, aber das von Anfang an. Ich kenne das Restaurant schon sehr lange und war schon als kleines Kind mit der Familie hier. Mit den Jahren ist es leider immer schlechter geworden und das war jetzt endgültig der letzte Besuch von uns. Ja, die Coronazeit war/ist eine schwierige Zeit für Restaurants, aber wir hätten erwartet, dass man die Zeit nutzt und die Speisekarte aktualisiert oder wenigstens schon vor der Bestellung darauf hinweist, dass einige Produkte nicht da...

I've lived in Greece for a year and so I've experienced what Greek food should be like and love it. This was no where near what I'd expect and worse than what I'd expect from a takeaway place.

The side salad was as basic and bland and it could possibly be. Kids Gyros was very low quality meat and an insane amount of huge raw onion chunks.

My moussaka was bland and dry with weird crusty bits.

My wife's tzatziki had so much garlic it could be used as a weapon and her potatoes were terrible.

I'm not one to complain but this we were so disappointed i was compelled to write a review.

I'm honestly stunned that it has 4*'s average. Maybe we just hit a bad night but I'd never consider going back to give them a second chance.

I just hope the usual Greek place we go to in the area...
