The Noodle Town X-Berg — Restaurant in Berlin

The food was great, the young lady that took care of us superb, but the portions were very,very small. For a bowl of Biang Biang Beef at a whopping €15.50. I walked out of there a bit dissatisfied. I have to admit when we go for Biang Biang Beef, we typically go to Wen Chang. I know they have gotten quite expensive as well, but I can definitely expect a nice full portion.

But the real question is What’s Happening to Berlin’s Restaurant Scene? Berlin used to be a place where you didn’t have to think twice about going out for lunch or dinner. Eating out was affordable, even on a budget. But over last couple of years that seems to be changing. We are seeing prices that feel out of place in a city where you can still find other great Asian spots charging under 7 euros for a meal.

I get it…I really get it, inflation is real! But it seems like some of these new restaurants are using it as an excuse to overcharge. Many seem to bank on their location in tourist heavy areas, assuming they can cash in on visitors while neglecting their local audience. But here’s the problem: locals are the ones who sustain a neighborhood’s food scene long-term.

Meanwhile, long-standing restaurants that have been in Berlin for decades understand something important: if you want to be part of a community, your prices need to reflect the people who live there, not just the tourists...

We were very disappointed with our visit. After spending half an hour traveling to this restaurant, we found out that the noodles had sold out three hours before closing time. There was no update about this on Google Maps or anywhere else. While the restaurant is open, it’s frustrating and unprofessional to run out of a signature item so early without informing customers. Please update your status or stock availability online to avoid wasting others’ time...

I was there in the big opening and it was great! The flavor was amazing but.. I went last week and the flavor changed, less spicy and the second option with soup was a bit too watery without flavor.

I would love to try again and give it another try, maybe I should have asked for the same spiciness.
