Absolutely overrated this place. I think they are taking too much comfort from having this nice building and rest on that! But the way this place is run is just sad and not honouring the beautiful Villa. Interior design is decent, but could be just a little bit nicer overall. Then basic things are not taken care of / considered: the table cloth had stains. The cutlery looked like from a cheap university cantina. Shape of the plates super horribly early 2000s, but not in a cool way, but just tucky and cheap.
I ordered the liver and wouldn't rate this good at all. I can cook it better at home. It was super dry and overcooked and cut into small pieces. Nothing like nice rosé on the inside like it actually should be. Also service should've ask if i want it more bloody or cooked through. But it just came dry. The sauce was good though.
Then service didn't know anything about alcohol, even when getting the manager and bartender nobody could reaaally make a proper recommendation. I wanted something to drink that increases my appetite… they had no idea what i mean. Then services wasn't checking if we needed anything and it wasn't really busy that evening.
I don't know… it just made me a little sad to see such a nice place in the wrong hands, having so mediocre management, making simply wrong decisions who they hire, how well (or bad in this case) staff is trained etc. … :-(
If the prices would be just slightly lower it would be acceptable again, but especially on the example with the liver: i ate already so so much better liver in Berlin in a place that felt waaay fancier and it was 2-3€ less than here…
Another thing: it's okay to not have gluten-free option. But staff didn't understand what we were asking for, when talking about bread. They simply didn't know what i meant. Ach ja and by the way i'm native german speaker ;-)
That evening i really was in a super generous mood, inviting a woman for her birthday dinner. If this would've been simply a nicer restaurant probably they would've sold 2 bottles of wine to me that evening… but this way – nope.
Won't go there again. Maybe if i want fries in a nice garden or simply a beer. It's good as Beer garden, but not as...
Read morewouldn't serve us the one meter pizza!!!!!!!!!!! we had 8 people coming and ordered one in advance but had the audacity to refuse to serve us the pizza, and thus we were forced to order alternative, mini pizzas in its place. these pizzas - the ones that were eventually served to us - were gross, like from a child's birthday party, as though frozen and purchased from Rewe. the best part was the fries -- but can someone say mcdonald's fries?????? [editor's note: yes you can!!!!!] so like still pretty bad. had a terrible time here don't go it's bad and they ruined my once-in-a-lifetime pizza party!!!!?!!!
UPDATE: it is now the next day and i have to report that me and 4 out of 5 members of my dining company all experienced intense stomach upset after eating here last night resulting in painful experiences, including vomit and diarrhea, for reasons we can only attribute to the pizzas. even a mushroom came out of the nose of my grandmary's nostril in the subsequent, tumultuous barf...
Read moreExactly what we were looking for. Visited after 20:00 on a Monday in January. Quiet, cosy, dinner out with a well executed menu close to home. I had a side salad with house dressing that was perfectly proportioned and included mixed greens, purple onions, tomato, cucumber, carrots, and some sweet corn. I followed that up with a bowl of spaghetti bolognese that was well balanced and tasted great. My husband had the meat lasagna which was unlike the unseemly, overcooked bricks we're so used seeing in restaurants. Both main dishes included good portion size and generous helping of well executed but simple sauces. Staff was attentive but unobtrusive, and beverage options were comprehensive. We finished up splitting a piece of tiramisu which was the perfect finish. They had quite a comprehensive dessert and antipasti selection, as well as a German menu and several people were partaking in their pizza selection. All in all I look forward to trying more of their menu and...
