Schützenhaus — Restaurant in Bernkastel-Kues

As I cannot give 0 stars, the star is for the view alone. In summary, there are loads of less impolite places in the area to get an overpriced beer. We called in on our way down from Landshut and found a seat. 10 mins later and after several attempts to catch a waitress's attention, I went indoors and asked for a menu and was told to find a seat and sit down. 5 more minutes later I waved at a waitress and was shouted at 'ein minuten bitte'. We left. If it was busy I could understand some frustration, but it was not. I've holidayed in this area for 5 years and have never found anything to complain about wrt service and politeness. Unfortunately this place broke that run but I know it is not indicative of the level of service available...

Edit: We went back the next day and got food. The fish bites were delicious!

I didn’t get to try the food because we ran up the hill/steps to get there about 30 mins before they closed. Worth the effort, because the views from this location are incredible! 👀

slide/fenced off play area for children 🛝 indoor and outdoor, larger outdoor section somewhat difficult hike up, there were vehicles at the top so I’m assuming you can drive up there if one cannot take the stair master...

There is no place with a better view of the Mosel and Bernkastel-Kues. The food is superb with a great seasonal menu, though you do pay for the view. Some of the negative reviews mention long wait times, and though they are not fast, this is not the place for you if you are in a hurry. Sit down, take your time, enjoy some local wine, and take in the panorama. Absolutely family friendly with a small playground. Reservations recommended if you want a seat on the edge of...
