Café Rotkehlchen (Südstadt) — Restaurant in Cologne

Lovely place with a lovely ambiance. This cafe is located in a nice area full of little shops and beautiful streets. It's a vegan friendly place, so you will find a lot of options. The decoration is quite nice, the music was relaxing and on a perfect level. The display on the showcase was also pretty nice. The only downside is that there were too many tables in the room, making it look smaller and jammed, and making it a bit hard to feel some privacy on the table. The food was very tasty. I ordered a pumpkin spiced latte and even though they prepare these in glass, they managed to change it to a mug. I personally think they should invest in new cutlery, since the knives were so blunt I couldn't cut the panini bread I ordered. The waitress was very attentive, and spoke English perfectly. If they have menus in English though, they didn't give me one. A bit too overpriced, but in general I think it's worth...

Ich mag das Café eigentlich gerne, alleine wegen der Plätze draußen und dem veganen Angebot. Leider war es jetzt schon mehrfach so, dass ich, wie andere hier auch schon berichteten, sehr lange auf die Bedienung warten musste und mich irgendwie ignoriert gefühlt habe. Ich musste letztens ohne meinen zweiten Kaffee gehen, weil ich 15 Minuten daran gescheitert bin die Aufmerksamkeit der Bedienung zu bekommen um zu bestellen. Als ich drinnen gefragt gefragt habe ob ich dort bestellen kann wurde mir gesagt „nein, bitte am Tisch bestellen wir kommen zu dir…“ Ich habe selbst auch lange im Service gearbeitet und weiß dass es Mal gute und mal schlechte Tage gibt und man auch mal abgelenkt oder beschäftigt ist. Aber hier scheint das nicht nur in Ausnahmen vorzukommen, alleine ich selbst hatte schon ein paar solcher Erlebnisse. Es wäre wirklich toll, wenn man sich alle Gäste in einem guten und angesagten Café willkommen und gesehen fühlen um sich eine gute Zeit zu machen. Das geht mit etwas Aufmerksamkeit und Bewusstsein auch wenn viel los ist oder das Personal unterbesetzt wenn man das richtig kommuniziert denke ich. Ich hoffe daran wird gearbeitet. Ich habe erstmal keine Lust mehr dort hin zu gehen, hoffe aber dass ich dort irgendwann wieder mit einem Guten Gefühl hin und vor allem auch wieder...

Fore the cakes were too sweet and I didn't like that. The drinks were ok and so so but still it's nice.

Staff are friendly and supportive and caring.

There are car parks around but the cafe has none.

The price I find it expensive and the size moderate not too...
