Out of ca. 2500 restaurants in Cologne, our son has chosen “Enat” to go to the family dinner on the very day of his 18th birthday to. No idea why. We live ca. 30 km far away. Let it be his secret. It proved to be a nice start into his adult life. You need to spicy up your life to feel it “on your tongue” and the smoke does not always go together with mirrors (thank God!) This is what he learned on the first evening of his adult life. We felt very welcome from the very first minute. Actually it was like having been invited to a family event. No “restaurant feeling” at all! Ms Yelma is the excellent host, she makes you feel at home. She doesn’t take your order and go away, she is just chatting with you all along and it comes so naturally that you feel as if you have known her for ages. She makes you feel at ease and involved. She will ask your child to help her prepare coffee. She will (pretend to) be angry that you haven’t eaten all your food and this gives you “grandma vibes” immediately and all of the sudden it feels so nice to be reminded of it 😊 The food is delicious and it is traditionally served which is an awesome experience. We are in awe of the hospitality of Ms Yelma and the taste of the Ethiopian coffee will now be following/bothering me every morning when I drink my Italian one. Thank you, Ms Yelma, family and team for the excellent food and the unique atmosphere. We’ll soon be back with the rest of our family. Marta and...
Read moreAs a first time American traveler to Köln this is a local spot that is worth the stop if you want a dinner experience. I speak no German besides a few words and the owner was absolutely welcoming. I used Google to help in some translations to be as polite as I could, she also spoke some English to help if I had a hard time understanding anything.
I got a tasting tray to try a few different options all at once and if you aren't sure what to try since everything sounds so good, get that! This place has such a cozy, welcoming atmosphere and gives you a very high quality experience of Ethiopian food in Germany.
I cannot give enough praise for how much I enjoyed eating here. At the end you can get coffee, it's a very unique flavor that I highly recommend since I haven't ever had it anywhere else. It also settles the stomach after being so full from all the...
Read moreThe restaurant has a beautiful and athmospheric interior design. The food and drinks seemed authentic to us, were delicious and new to us and it was a great experience to eat with your fingers. What amazed us the most was that they surprised the birthday person in our group with a birthday song, a fancy cloak for photos and alcohol-free sparkling wine for the whole group because one of us still had to drive. We were served and greeted in such a heart-warming, loving way and the staff in this family-run business gave it their everything to make us feel comfortable and welcome and they also had a great sense of humour. We'd definitely recommend this restaurant and are looking forward to eating...
