Hallmackenreuther — Restaurant in Cologne

We casually found yesterday with some friends this restaurant. To begin, we all agreed that the cakes and the coffees were totally amazing about taste and presentation, and the atmosphere was incredible too. But sadly, the team haven't the best diposition with us, with a woman almost angry cause we didn't wait on the entry to them give us a table (what we absolutely didn't know because was our first time there, and also no one told us anything) and we were a group of seven people, so is not hard noting we were coming in.

Something what I am really thankful, they didn't have a problem to talk in english with us, cause our german is not good enough to make a conversation.

Usually I don't make this, I just put five stars and leave, but with a better attitude of your team, I would talk to my friends about going to Hallmackenreuther again. Posibly I would go again just...

Iconic bar cafe restaurant that is always worth a visit at any time of the week or day - if you are lucky with the staff. Already before moving to this neighbourhood, I had always loved this cool design place with character and love for gastronomy. Also, the fact that it's a large place - compared to the average Cologne bars/restaurants - including the perfect terrace, makes it exceptional. Most importantly, the constantly good cuisine and solid wine / drinks selection are pluses. That's why I have felt sorry for the place, recently, in experiencing waiters with an 'attitude' - that's really the last thing this place needs. One Saturday we came with 3 people, found a table and the waitress came within 2 minutes to take our order - as we had not decided yet, she would ignore us for the next 10 minutes and we left - just...

really absurd waiting times, we ordered the breakfast of coffee with waffles + a bread with avocado and hummus; the coffee arrived in 25 minutes and the bread 40minutes later (obviously we had no coffee left) and the waffle never arrived, even though we stayed there 1 hour and 30 minutes! I can understand that they are a little overwhelmed with the amount of people that visit the place because of the decor of strange things, but that does not justify the lack of staff that prevents them from giving a good service.
