Jakob Gyros Köln Südstadt — Restaurant in Cologne

Ordered the standard gyros Pita. The meat was cooked to perfection. It seemed a but underwhelming because of the lack of seasoning. Combined with a bland-ish zaziki sauce and a pita bread which was thick, made with a coarse pizza-like dough the dish tasted good but still sorta ordinary. If the pita had been a bit thinner and the zaziki had a better punch, I would've enjoyed the experience much much more! But as a follow-up, I ordered the gyros platter with mixed salad. The proportions were perfect, so was the seasoning and the textures and the viscosity of the sauces and the volume of salad was satiating. The feta was very fresh as well. So the platters are a better option in my opinion! The inconsistency of quality, especially the gyros meat in the next few times made me drop one star for...

Good gyros, but nothing extraordinary. Ordered two gyros with salad, two tzatziki and one fries with Metaxa sauce. Meat was good, but unusually thinly sliced reminding me more of kebab meat than of gyros. Meat could also have been a bit leaner. The fries with Metaxa sauce were good as well, but I did not taste any Metaxa in there. It was pretty much just a creamy tomato sauce. It was the first Greek shop I ever visited that charged extra for the tzatziki! And the tzatziki was not that great, was a bit too bland and yoghurty. I can do better. Overall a good experience, but a bit overpriced. But that's what you gotta pay for, if you want to eat hip Greek food next to the hippest burger shop in a hip...

Authentisch, lecker und unkompliziert – Jakob Gyros ist ein echter Geheimtipp in der Südstadt!

Ich war kürzlich zum ersten Mal im Jakob Gyros auf der Bonner Straße – und garantiert nicht zum letzten Mal. Das Restaurant punktet nicht nur mit seinem köstlichen, authentischen Gyros (ich fühlte mich kulinarisch direkt nach Griechenland versetzt), sondern auch mit einem rundum durchdachten Konzept.

Ob man schnell etwas zum Mitnehmen braucht, bequem liefern lassen möchte oder lieber in entspannter Atmosphäre vor Ort essen will – hier ist alles möglich. Besonders angenehm: das Curbside Pickup für alle, die es eilig haben.

Auch die Sitzplätze im Freien laden bei schönem Wetter zum Verweilen ein. Ich war mit Freunden dort – die Stimmung war locker, der Service freundlich und aufmerksam, und die Location ist auch für Gruppen und Familien bestens geeignet.

Pluspunkte gibt es auch für die Barrierefreiheit, die modernen Zahlungsmöglichkeiten (NFC & Debitkarte) und die ordentliche Erreichbarkeit – Parken ist zwar kostenpflichtig, aber immerhin direkt vor der Tür möglich.

Kurz gesagt: Jakob Gyros verbindet griechische Gastfreundschaft mit Kölner Lässigkeit – und das schmeckt man! Die Google-Bewertung von 4.6 ist absolut verdient. Wer auf gutes Gyros steht, sollte hier definitiv mal...
