Zum Schießhaus — Restaurant in Dresden

Review update Nov. 7, 2024: Back in Dresden, and since the response of the management was so nice, decided to check the place again. And I’m happy I did! Within the week, I visited twice and can say that the food and vibe are still awesome! And the service is exceptional!! Pleasant, courteous and efficient. Back to be my favorite place in town!! One recommendation: since the weather is colder now, and obviously the outside seating is out for the season, I recommend to make reservations! As seating inside is limited, and getting filled up quickly.

Let me start by saying - I love that place! I love the food, the atmosphere, and that it feels like an authentic German restaurant/gathering spot, and not a tourist trap. I’ve been there maybe 7-8 times, and as an American, I ALWAYS tip the waiters (15-20%), although I know from my German colleagues that in Germany a tip is appreciated but not required. With that said, I was very surprised when my server felt it is needed to state that the price doesn’t include a tip. That was the first time ever in Germany that I was told something like that. In fact - it happened the last 3 times I was there (served by the same waiter) that it happened… I feel that if I was local - he would never say that. That upsets me, and when you’re going to enjoy dinner, you don’t want to be upset. That caused me to skip going back now, and that saddened me, because of that server I won’t be back… I do want to add that the other times, other servers were very nice, attentive and service was great! I hope someone from management will see that and will get that delivered and explained to the servers… or maybe the wrong...

Been here twice during my stay in Dresden with my friend for a dinner. No chance to sit outside without reservation. The inside space is nice but a bit hot in the summer. Typical german food, generous portions. They have this 1,5L beer ceramic jug, if you're feeling thirsty. Nice selection of fruit spirits! Most of the time, we had our punk-fashioned-very-friendly young waiter, spoke pretty good English, quick service. Apart from this guy, it was not as quick. It must be some german thing with the service, it happened to me many times before: The first order - immediately. Another beer - quite quickly. More beers - not so quickly. You want something else? - long waiting. Wanna pay? - wait...

Erstmal einen schönen Dank an das Team Vorort! Mein Arbeitskollege und ich waren gestern hier essen gewesen und waren sehr zufrieden.

Wir hatten beide die Käsesuppe in der Vorspeise von der Tagesempfehlung. Sehr samtig im Geschmack, eine feine würze durch den Käse...abgerundet mit leichter Schärfe! Eine Ware Freude zum Auftakt!

Im Hauptgang hatte mein Kollege eine wunderbare Schweinshaxe, die Schwarte hat nur so gekracht, daß konnte selbst der Nachbartisch hören. Senf gehört dazu, welcher auch dabei war. Thüringer Klöße und feines Sauerkraut. Die Klöße waren mega fluffig und die semmelbutter zum reinlegen.

Ich nahm vorlieb mit einer Lammhaxe...auch von der Tagesempfehlung, mit Speckbohnen und böhmischen Knödeln (leider nicht selbst gemacht), nicht des du trotz ein super Produkt gewesen.

Bis hier hin alles super...Jetzt kommen kleine aber's...und das ist meckern auf hohen Niveau und das haben wir dem Personal auch persönlich gesagt.

Meine speckbohnen hätten für 3 Portionen gereicht, und nett wäre gewesen von vornherein nen Ablageteller zu haben für die Knochen...! Klar gab es dann natürlich auf Nachfrage.

Im Dessrt gab es gebackene Apfelringe mit Vanillesauce und ich gönnte mit einen halbflüssigen Schokokuchen mit Sorbet und Sahne!

Mein schokokuchen ist leider ein gekauftes fertigprodukt, und war leider auch nicht flüssig. Ich habe es auf einen zweiten Versuch ankommen lassen. Dies wurde ohne murren getan! Hat beim 2.ten mal leider auch nicht geklappt...wir bzw ich habe es sportlich genommen, denn geschmacklich konnte alles überzeugen.

Man sagt immer, wir als Gastronomen sind die schlimmsten Gäste, weil wir auch die härtesten Kritiker sind...! Ja das stimmt....aber wir geben auch das ehrliche Feedback!

Ich kann nur so viel sagen...wir hatten eine schöne Zeit bei euch, gutes Essen und einen angenehmen Service. Vlt nur beim nächsten Mal nicht unbedingt den "Katzentisch"...Ihr wisst was ich meine!
