I rarely put just one star in a review. Maybe this is my first time.
The room's large and worn: big stains on the carpet. No view. Empty bar fridge. No chance to make coffee or tea in the room. They sell drinks at the front desk. So I guess that's the way.
The attitude of the staff is not oriented to make their guests feel good, but rather to keep them under control. =For breakfast, the room manager forced me to sit at the table: a single, narrow table in front of a piano - really unpleasant. Despite my requests to change tables - the table I wanted to stay at was near the window with a view, (the table was available: it was 7 o'clock and the room was almost empty) and despite no anti covid rule was to be applied (later at 10 the room was overcrowded), the room manager forced me to stay at my table!!! =When later I asked to drink my coffee on the terrace, the manager said yes but she wanted to relegate me to an unpleasant space. In the end I forced myself and got to sit at the tables in the sun that I preferred. The manager accepted my decision and underlined it with a clear hint of disappointment. Perhaps the problem was the fact that in the room as in the terrace (I repeat deserted at 7) there were no single tables in the areas that interested me (which were the most pleasant). Now. Assuming that this is the problem... the hotel should publicly discourage people travelling alone from booking a room with them. If that's not the problem... well I'd like to remind the manager that I'm not in a canteen and I'm not 12 years old.
The hotel does not respond promptly and accurately to messages on booking.com. =The second disappointing aspect of my brief experience at the Maritim Hotel concerns parking for my motorcycle.Immediately after booking my room, I send a message via booking asking for any parking fees for my bike and saying that I will arrive at 9pm. I get a message at 5pm (at 6pm my option to cancel the reservation expires) saying that my request is accepted without over charge. I guess it is the request for parking (in many hotels the bikes do not pay or pay a reduced fee.) When I arrive at the hotel I am told that I will have to pay 22 euros for the garage. And then it is explained to me that the request to which they made reference was to arrive at 21. Obviously it bothers me a bit. If I had known I would have chosen another hotel. By the way, the hotel parking lot is in another building 200m away. And to my surprise, in an evening walk I find a parking house at 4 minutes from the hotel which costs 6 euros per night!! But apart from the 22 euros, the important aspect of this experience is that the hotel employees did not read my message on booking. I wrote new messages and received no response.
The feeling I get from the experience is that the hotel is a worn-out facility. The staff does not welcome you in a hospitable way, rather you, the client, must follow their rules and not make too much fuss :)
Definitely not friendly for those traveling alone and for those traveling by...
Read moreI'm staying at this hotel for a few days at the hotel and I wanted to share my experience. First we wanted to have lunch at the hotel restaurant. While the atmosphere was pleasant, there were a few aspects that left me disappointed.
At the start of our visit, we asked a waitress for the menu rather than waiting for someone to approach our table. I admit this might not have been entirely appropriate, but what stood out—and not in a positive way—was that another waitress responded with a clear head-shaking gesture, which came across as unwelcoming and a bit unprofessional.
The most uncomfortable part of our experience occurred when paying the bill. Our own room number didn’t work for payment, so we had to use the room number of the person who had paid for the rooms. However, that person wasn’t present to provide a signature, which led to an awkward situation. One of the staff members audibly sighed, which felt dismissive and unprofessional. I eventually paid in cash, which I had to go back to my room to get, but by that point the whole situation had created an unpleasant atmosphere.
Due to this experience, I am hesitant to dine at the restaurant again during my stay. I hope that this feedback can help improve the service for future guests
That being said, the food and drinks arrived quickly, and everything else was fine. Still, paying €27 for two currywurst and two sparkling waters felt excessive and unreasonable.
Throughout the visit, we couldn’t shake the feeling that we were treated differently because we weren’t German. This added to the sense of discomfort and left us feeling unwelcome.
Apart from the restaurant experience, the hotel itself was great—our rooms were clean and comfortable, the location is beautiful, and everything was...
Read moreWe were initially given a room on the South West side of the hotel, and as there had been some hot weather prior to our arrival, the room was very hot. I called down to reception and they sent a guy with an IR thermometer to measure the temperature coming from the vents...27ºC (80ºF)
He didn't speak very good English, but his body language was suggesting that was normal and the AC was 'working'.
I called reception again and asked if we could move rooms but I was told that all the rooms were booked...except one.
The receptionist asked if I wanted to have a look at the room because it had no windows. Sounded a bit odd, so I went to have a look.
Whilst I was waiting for the key, the receptionist told me that the AC system in the hotel is over 17 years old and that the hotel owners who are based in Singapore wanted to have it replaced during lockdown but for some reason it wasn't possible.
I went to check out the alternative room and it was some sort of boardroom with two foldaway beds. The view was interesting-great for people watching with the mirrored glass, and as there were no external windows and lots of vents it did seem a bit cooler.
Car parking was quite expensive and there were multiple barriers into which I had to insert the ticket along the way.
Breakfast was very expensive and the one-way system that was in place made things very chaotic and unenjoyable.
I might stay there again, but only after they've got their AC sorted out.
Shower power was good in the boardroom bathroom. It would probably be good enough to clean Euros before they are paid into Frasers Hospitality...
