Have been a regular here for almost 2 years now.

Something has changed about the coffee. The espresso and cakes used to be excellent. The last 2 visits in November and December of 2024 have left me thinking if there is even a good coffee shop in erlangen anymore.

One time espresso was so bitter that even milk couldn't mask it in a cappuccino and the last time espresso (light roast Ethiopia) was over extracted with insane bitterness. The cakes are hit and miss. Käsekuchen had a texture of granulated cheese with a thick pastry which is too hard to eat. Chocolate cakes have flowers on them which ruin the flavor and are sometimes like a brick, in my opinion.

The people who worked here in June 2023 and the following months were excellent and right now in 2024 I feel there is only ONE person who actually cares about serving good speciality coffee in the cafe.

Worried but will give one more try on a random day...

The bad rating is for the service not the coffee. We were waiting for our coffee during not so busy time, and even after reminding the waitress we didnt get our order for 40 mins. As we were in rush, had to leave, and then on our way out the same waitress sort of rudely screamed at us: "don't you think you need to pay"? - of course all bar turned at us and she didnt even believe us that we did not get our coffee- took a while to convince her. We got half-hearted apology after being embarassed. Such a pity to receive such treatment and not want to come back in otherwise what seems to be...

Nice spot in Erlangen. This was the only place featured by the European Coffee Trip application and I was not disappointed. The staff was very kind, offered to speak English to me and also suffered my schhlect German. The coffee tasted just right. There is a lot of coffee beans available. There is something for everyone. I myself bought one bag as well.

My only critique is that it worth checking out the roast date on the packages. Some of them were about 2-2.5 month old which can be problematic depending on your taste, especially if you are not planning to drink...
