FOOD & DRINKS Let’s make it quick and mostly painless. We had two items that were way too salty. Your mouth was coated entirely with salt by just eating one piece of the dish. The mapo tofu lacked a lot of depth and flavor. The other items we had were ok.

SERVICE We came here after Christmas to have a family dinner and we got into a very loud and aggressive fight in the kitchen for several minutes. Not even one apology for the circumstances. That is just unacceptable. The waiters were friendly and nice though!

ATMOSPHERE Very spacey but not very cozy.

RATING Too many issues. The one positive I have to highlight are the waiters. They took our complaint about the salty food seriously, the cook tried it himself and they didn’t charge for the one item we complained about. ⭐Authentic Hunan kitchen. Best represented by this one dish currently on the Specials board, smoked and winded-dried pork belly fired with fiddlehead, a much treasured wild herb.

The spicy large intestine of pig, served up in a dry pot, is done extremely well. The veg pieces are juicy and crunchy, while the intestine slices offer a satisfying resistance to the bite.

The cold appetizers, man-and-wife tripes and bone-in chicken, are lackluster. To be fair, they are not what Hu’nan kitchen is known for. So it’s kinda understandable.

Our water spinach (latin: Ipomoea aquatica) in garlic sauce was a great balace to the heavier dishes.

Wir haben über Groupon ein 3 Gänge Menü gebucht und sind dann in dieses Restaurant.

Zunächst zum Restaurant selber: Es befindet sich etwas abgelegen in der Innenstadt. Die Einrichtung ist sehr spartanisch gehalten. Gut finde ich dass die Tische etwas weiter auseinander stehen. Allerdings sind die Stühle aus einfachem Holz und unbequem. Zum Essen: Was direkt aufgefallen ist, ist die drastisch abgespeckte Karte wenn man über Groupon bucht. Diese ist auf eine A4 Seite reduziert und ind in Form einer Ausgedruckten Seize verfügbar. Durchgestrichene und handgeschriebene Ergänzungen inklusive. Aus der Karte kann man je eine Vorspeise und ein Hauptgericht wählen. Die Nachspeise ist zwar auch wählbar aber es steht nur eine einzige auf der Karte. Das ganze sieht ziemlich unprofessionell aus. Dann wurde das essen serviert. Und das ziemlich schnell. Wir waren noch nichtmsl mit der Vorspeise fertig und hatten bereits die Nachspeise auf den Tisch. Das essen selber sah auch sehr abgespeckt aus und war total ölig. Und zwar alles. Selbst der Salat triefte vor Öl. Als Vorspeise hatte ich hähnchen. Dies war in öl und erdnuss sauce . Als Hauptgericht hatte ich gebratene Ende. Diese war einfach auf Soja Sprossen serviert und in Öl gebadet. Geschmacklich war es nicht gut. Die Nachspeise waren solche Süßkartoffeln Puffer im Teigmamtel und diese waren ebenfalls Öl getränkt. So habe ich es noch nie erlebt. Geschmacklich auch nicht gut. Immerhin war unser Keller freundlich.

Fazit: So eine Teilnahme am Groupon Verfahren sollte dazu da sein um Kunden zu locken und zu behalten. Dies ist bei uns nicht gelungen. Im Gegenteil. Ich habe mich eher wie ein drittklassiger Gast gefühlt. Alles in allen würde ich nicht nochmal hier hin gehen. Auch nicht um die Speinen aus dem "normalen"...
