I’ve always been a loyal Douglas customer and love shopping both online and in-store for everything from skincare to perfumes and makeup. Until now, I’ve only had positive experiences with Douglas. However, this particular store was quite disappointing — mainly due to the unprofessional and rude behavior of the staff.
When I visited to purchase a product, I noticed that the product I wanted was listed at a lower price on the Douglas app. I’m aware that Douglas has a price match policy for such cases, so I politely pointed this out at the counter. The staff member responded in a very dismissive and rude manner, saying, “If you want online prices, then order online — don’t come to the store.” When I mentioned that price matching is a part of Douglas’ own policy, she reluctantly agreed to apply the discount but added, “Next time, order online and don’t come to the store.”
Additionally, I do not speak German and was communicating clearly in English. Despite understanding me perfectly, the staff member continued to speak in German, which made the interaction unnecessarily difficult. I believe Douglas should ensure that their staff are capable of assisting English-speaking customers, especially in cities where many international residents and tourists shop.
This experience was frustrating and not at all what I expect from a brand like Douglas. I hope the management takes feedback seriously and trains staff accordingly to provide respectful and helpful...

I did not buy anything, and after I exited the shop, an undercover security guard came out of a crowd and rushed at me, pushed me back into the store, and dragged me into the back room, ignoring my questions (He did not tell me he was security or why he had grabbed me). He then demanded to search me, which I allowed him to do. He was very aggressive, and several of his colleagues came and told him to calm down and to leave me alone. He claimed that I had taken cologne and hidden it inside my umbrella, which of course I did not do. The man did not speak to me after he searched me except to tell me to leave. Whether or not he was justified in being suspicious of me, I do not think he should have been so physically aggressive, nor should he have grabbed me after I had left the store. Read moreI describe my experience in this shop very uncomfortable and frustrating. I went there with the intention of buying a foundation in my skin colour and there were non in the darker shade. They had MANY make up brands available and NONE of them had darker shades exposed. I inquired one of the employees for help and I was adviced to search online as the foundation in darker shades are only available online, they then showed me "dark" foundation from the brand "IT cosmetic" not surprisingly none of the 2 matched my skin colour. I will surely no longer shop here. Its time to learn to be more inclusive, situations like this should be avoided.
