This review is for the guesthouse, not the restaurant. Our family group of 5 booked 3 rooms (3, 4, & 6). Room 3 had a balcony with a beautiful view of the Lech River and the Alps, and a small table and 2 chairs. The furniture inside was generally basic but the rooms were clean and functional. A hot water kettle and different teas were included. Room 3 also had a table and 4 chairs, a sofa, a wardrobe, and an antique ceramic tile heater. Room 6 (a single) was very small but adequate and had a nice view from the bed. The rooms were generally quiet until early morning (the street noise started around 6 am). The bathrooms included body soap and a hair dryer. The towels were small but absorbent. The faucet in Room 4 was very loose and both handles were hot (although cold water did come out from turning the right handle). The location is pretty good—about a 10-minute walk to town (staying in town was quite a bit more expensive). To get there from the Romantic Road, Google Maps took us through Austria (the guesthouse is about ½ mile from the border), but there is no “border crossing” with guards—just a sign. Parking is just across a small street. No breakfast is served, but a map is provided with the locations of 5 places to get breakfast (4 in town). I had an issue that the host blamed on Booking.com. My reservation clearly stated that all 3 rooms had mountain/river views, and I even received a confirmation email when I contacted the guesthouse via Booking. However, Room 4 did not have this view. When I questioned the host, he basically said, “Not all rooms can have the view.” When I mentioned the email, he replied, “Yes, I saw that.” No apology or concern for my disappointment. Later, he claimed that Booking made the error by promising 3 rooms with a view and by writing the email. Still, he saw the email and did not choose to correct the information. Another miscommunication—I was charged a “city tax” of about 5% which was not included in the “final price” on Booking. This was the only guesthouse (out of 6 that we stayed in) where...

Read moreI had travelled from Munich to Füssen very early in the morning in order to set up a base in Füssen and hike around the beautiful castles and lakes nearby all in one day. I had, however, stupidly overlooked the fact that check in opens at 17:00 at this place, but was nevertheless made to feel welcome and accommodated early on. A good early sign...||||One thing that struck me about this place was just how cheap it was. For such a prime location for walkers (it's literally on the road that leads up to the famous castles and is just opposite the Lech waterfall), I wondered what the catch was. The good news was that there was no catch and, I should emphasise this, as a solo traveller whose aim was to hike around and explore the region on foot, it was absolutely perfect.||||I can see why some travellers may not like certain aspects of the place (there is no breakfast available, it could certainly be cleaner - guys, lift your mattresses up occasionally! - it's a couple of minutes from the train station) but for the price they are offering you can't really complain.||||A comfy bed (with a phenomenal view of the mountains), ensuite bathroom, a great steak meal, friendly multi-lingual staff and beautiful surroundings all mean I'll be coming back again pretty soon. If you are looking for perfection or travelling with a group of children, you may be disappointed. I, however, was delighted and feel this place needs better recognition as it ticks every box for a...
