There are meals you eat, and then there are meals that feel like memories in the making. NIKOLAI is not just a restaurant—it’s a warm embrace, a love letter to flavor, and now, our sacred place every 25th of the month, the day we celebrate us.

From the first sip—be it the delicate rosé or the deep, elegant red—the evening begins like a beautiful poem. Then comes the garlic bread: golden, fragrant, impossibly good. Truly, the best on this planet. (I’d come here just for that alone.)

And the Flammkuchen? Each one tells its own story—The French, The Norwege, The Sicilian, The Brasilien—each bite crisp, vibrant, and full of soul. They’re not just meals, they’re moments.

Then comes the dessert, and with it, a quiet joy. You can taste the love. It’s as if someone whispered sweetness into every ingredient.

The staff are lovely, kind, and attentive, making you feel like you’re being welcomed home. The lighting is warm and golden, casting a gentle glow over laughter and clinking glasses. And the chef—ah, the chef! One of the most beautiful human beings on earth! You feel his heart in every dish, every detail, every smile.

NIKOLAI isn’t just our favorite restaurant. It’s our ritual, our rhythm, our place of joy.

I arrived from Aarhus at lunch and immediately began searching for good restaurants, soon finding Nikolai. I had to wait until 5pm for it to open, but it was a worthwhile wait.

The Flammkuchen is fantastic, cooked to perfection with a great balance of flavours. The beer is crisp and refreshing, and the service was friendly, multilingual, and overall top notch. It was fairly quiet when I visited, so I was served very quickly, but even on busy days I think this place would definitely be worth the wait.

Bei einem Vater-/Kinderwochenende haben wir zufällig das NIKOLAI im Holmhof beim vorbeilaufen gesehen und gemeinsam entschieden, dass es heute Flammkuchen geben wird. Nach kurzer Reservierung per Telefon (welches es heute nicht wirklich gebraucht hätte) und einem erlebnissreichen Tag in Flensburg, kamen wir abends am HOLMHOF an. Die Location mit schönem Ambiente und ein paar Außenplätzen im alten Hof gelegen, hat uns direkt überzeugt. Als wir das NIKOLAI dann betraten eröffnete sich ein wunderschöner Backsteinbau mit dem alten Holzständerwerk und gleichzeitig einer sehr netten Bedienung, welche uns in Empfang nahm. Ich war heute alleine mit meinen beiden Mädels (6&8 Jahre) unterwegs und habe mich direkt willkommen und aufgehoben gefühlt. Die Karte mit Flammkuchen ist überschaubar, die dazugehörigen Getränke sind gut ausgewählt und das „Fass des Monats“ läd immer zu einer Überraschung ein. Wir hatten uns den Klassiker und einen Flammkuchen mit Lachs, sowie dem Brot mit Aioli gewählt und sind alle gut satt geworden. Anschließend noch einen „Süßen“ und wir konnten anschließen nach einem kleinen Plausch mit dem Chef glückselig das NIKOLAI wieder verlassen.
