After numerous articles and also some recommendations, I decided to eat here today with my parents.
We were greeted friendly and escorted to our table. The service simply placed the menu in the middle and did not hand them to us.
We decided on the Argentinian rump steak and the filet from Uruguay. When we asked if we could exchange the fries for another side dish, we were told that this was only possible for an extra charge (4.90 EUR). At this point I would like to point out that the additional side dishes (same size) would have cost only 3.50 and if you wanted to have more, you could have been ordered more free of charge.
The food arrived relatively quickly and the quality of the meat was great. Among the side dishes, grilled vegetables, potato gratin and fries, only the fries were actually good. The grilled vegetables were rather mushy and oily. The gratin tasted like nothing.
There were 3 sauces to go with the meat, chimi churi, merretic and bbq. The first one had a lot of herbs and oil, but no spiciness, merretic didn't match the meat and bbq somehow tasted much too sweet.
We had also ordered three different butters, which unfortunately only tasted like butter and lacked the taste for the respective herbs.
Basically, I would give the restaurant 2 stars, but the quality of the meat actually pulls out another star.
At these prices, you'd expect a lot more. Actually a pity considering the location. Reminds me of a Hamburg steakhouse chain with better meat quality.
Recommendation:
Service should first explain the concept of the restaurant to the guest, i.e. hot stone.
Service should go through the menu with the guest
If the guest wants a different side dish instead of fries, this should not be a problem and they should be able to order more free of charge, just like...
Read moreABACCO'S is a restaurant chain known for its high quality. Here in Frankfurt, the atmosphere was initially very beautiful and impressive, with high ceilings, a unique chandelier, and large pictures that are meant to evoke an old theater. The garlic toast is always a hit and tastes very good. The shrimp and the dessert also deserve a mention. Now I'll get to why I'm only giving two stars: We were a large group, and among other things, we ordered rib-eye and marbled US Prime tenderloin. Neither the rib-eye nor the marbled steak were what they were supposed to be. We received some kind of soft steak, but it wasn't the marbled one and it wasn't the rib-eye. Of course, the bill still charged us the prices for the rib-eye and US Prime tenderloin steaks. When we complained, the response was, "Yes, it's possible that's how the order came from the supplier." But they didn't communicate that to the guest at the beginning of the order. This is a complete loss of trust and a loss of faith in ABACCO'S quality. Unfortunately, many people don't understand the differences between steak types and believe they are getting what they ordered. A tip from me: Have the waiter confirm that you are truly receiving the steak you want, and only pay for what you actually receive, not what you supposedly ordered. I can only recommend ABACCO'S under...
Read moreThe place looks very nice inside, great interior. It has an old classy vibe. However our experience here was not the best.
Entree The carpaccio was very bland. The caesar salad had warm chicken, which also made the lettuce leads warm. Warm lettuce is of course not tasty
Main You have to cook your own steak. You get your raw steak on a hot stone with a cold stone next to it. We didnt get a good explanation (served did not speak english) so we didnt know how it worked. Because of that the steak became overcooked and it couldnt be eaten anymore. Thankfully we got a new steak after explaining the situation to the manager. Judging by the reviews, people enjoy the “cook it yourself” concept but we feel like cooking steak to the right temperature is something that requires some knowledge and experience. We want to come to the restaurant to enjoy the food, not to cook the food.
Dessert See for yourself on the picture. Creme brulee was burned and the parts that were not burned were just dry sugar. Worst crème brulee i’ve ever been served. We sent it back
Because of our experience we got two free homemade lemonades, which were great. The staff was friendly and apologetic.
Overall, the restaurant has a nice look to it but the eating experience we had was definitely not worth the €140 price tag. We will not be returning to...
