Tapas la pepa — Restaurant in Freiburg im Breisgau

Unfortunately a disappointing evening for us. We were 6 and we'd reserved a table and ordered drinks and a round of 6 tapas. 5 of the drinks arrived and then the first few tapas and two small bits of bread.

The next tapas arrived still not the 6th drink. After 30 minutes we asked the waiter and the 6th drink arrived "on the house" he said. That was ok.

We ordered 5 more tapas including a basket of bread as we had some much tasty sauces left in the tapas bowls but the 2 small bits of bread were long gone. Two tapas arrived.

We waited.....

...and waited.

No other tapas or bread arrived! By this time the super tasty gambas oil what was left which I was so looking forward to dipping bread into had gone cold! Annoying. It was already too late for us and eventually we got the waiter's attention and got the bill. €180!! I wasn't paying but I am sure they charged us for the missing tapas and the late drink.

There were 6 of us and we were getting these tapas slowly and with hardly any bread. It was frustrating to say the least and I don't usually like to write about a negative experience but this was really sloppy service. Ok let me spill some tea with y'all:

We came here as a couple and ordered 4-5 different dishes and non-alcoholic drinks.

The waitress came first with the drinks which ALL had alcohol when we tasted them. This is when the first red flag was raised.

She even looked at us in a confused way as if we were inconveniencing her. But whatever, that wasn't the worst part.

Then she brought out dishes one by one, meaning we only ate one dish at a time before the next arrived 5-10min later. Let me tell you, EACH DISH WAS THE WRONG ORDER. By the 4th wrong dish i couldn't resist laughing because it felt like a joke. So each dish had to go back and done again. What an embarassement not just for them, but imagine how we felt telling them each dish was wrong and it felt like we were just being difficult customers but honestly, at least I want the dishes I ordered.

Then the cherry on top was when we got the bill and they charged us for a dish we never received.

I never ever had that happen to me and I don't think any restaurant can ever top this awful experience.

Well I guess at least they take the crown for the worst customer service I've...

We had just come back from Europa Park and was craving some tapas and red wine. We arrived on a Friday night around 21:00 and it was very busy. The hostess (who turned out to be the owner) took good care of us. She took us inside and gave us a glass of bubbly while we waited. We eventually got a small table in the cozy basement. The service was amazing! Thank you Alexei (I hope I spelled that right) for taking the time to chat with us. You all made us feel so welcome after a long day.

By the way - we always judge spanish restaurants in Germany by the croquetas - these are by far the best we've had! Proper homemade.
