Crockpot`s - Original Detroit Style Pizza und Slow Cooked Meals — Restaurant in Giessen

•The food in this place is amazing•

I have not had the greatest variety as of yet, but the Mac and Cheese and pizzas I had, as well as the Ranch sauce are insanely good and I am a very critical person when it comes to eating out. I dont like to overpay for mediocre food, which is why I will often avoid most places. This food is fairly priced and it definitely hits the spot. Incredible flavors and it all feels balanced, it all goes well together.

A margherita will cost roughly 8.50 for a "regular" and at Italian pizza places I will end up eating 2 or sometimes 3 of those — dont worry, I am healthy — but to be fair, even one of these regular ones will fill you up. I ate two, which cost me 17 Euros, because they are delicious and I love to stuff myself anyway.

I assume each pizza has around 1500 kcal and honestly feels like 1.5 or even 2 normal sized pizzas in one, from the way it satiates you.

The Mac and Cheese is also very, very good. I assume the other dishes must be great too. Atmosphere may not be top notch, a lot of people seem to just order takeout, but the food is seriously worth it.

2 days in Giessen and it's a must, eating something American.

I didn't want to go a typical fast food chain and found this nice little restaurant in a residential area of Giessen.

There are plenty of parking spaces. You don't have to take a ticket on Sundays.

Holding the menu in my hand, I immediately noticed the many US-style pizzas and slow-cooked meals. I opted for the burger.

The slowcooked pulled chicken burger was delicious and juicy. The homemade coleslaw was not too sweet like the one from a well-known fast food chain. I added a portion of onion rings and my day was saved.

On Wednesdays, Crockpot's offers All U Can Eat Ribs for around 30 euros per person. Better call and reserve a table if you plan to come with friends. Credit cards are accepted, including AMEX.

Vorab möchte ich sagen, dass ich die Idee hinter diesem Lokal echt gut finde. Vor Allem, wenn man eine Pizza nach amerikanischem Style sucht, musste man immer Richtung Frankfurt schauen.

Allerdings merkt man dem Lokal auch an, dass vieles von dem, was sich auf der Karte befindet, Dinge sind, die wahrscheinlich mal zu Hause in der eigenen Küche ausprobiert wurden und deshalb fehlt mir hier auch der Feinschliff.

Das Pulled Pork war in einer langweiligen Tomatensauce gegart, die dazu noch sehr wässrig war und somit überhaupt nicht für einen Burger geeignet. Vervollständigt wurde dieser Burger durch zwei Vollkornbrötchenhälften, ein paar eingelegten Gurken und Salatblätter. Das ist einfach nicht das, was ich erwarte, wenn ich ein amerikanisch angehauchtes Lokal besuche. Gart das Pulled Pork in einer dickflüssigen BBQ Sauce, gebt mir ein Brioche Bun, bestreicht dieses mit einer Mayo und legt eine Scheibe Käse drauf, dann bin ich glücklich.

Das Gulasch war kaum mit Salz abgeschmeckt, generell wird hier sehr spärlich mit Salz umgegangen, dadurch kommen die Slowcooked Produkte auch viel weniger zur Geltung.

Die Detroit Style Pizza hat mich definitiv am meisten abgeholt, die war wirklich lecker und man bekommt das so auch nirgends sonst in Gießen. Auch an der Zimtschnecke war nichts auszusetzen. Brownie und Donuts waren ziemlich durchschnittlich.

Inhaber/Service waren super nett und entgegenkommend.

Ich hoffe, dass man sich hier vielleicht noch ein bisschen weiterentwickelt und die Produkte entsprechend optimiert, dann sehe ich wirklich großes Potenzial.
