The place has a nice indoor and outdoor space. The location is nice as it is next to Schanze station. Which are the only reasons I can give some stars actually.
However we found the beer selection dull and limited compared to an average beer pub. I am not a fan of Ratsherrn beer so I first checked the other brands they serve. I remember the prices for those beers being higher than I expected. I then have chosen one of the Ratsherrn beers, which unfortunately didn't change my mind about the brand at all.
For us the downside was the service. The ordering is done online and require a card/Paypal. Some people could feel uneasy about that. In the end it's just ordering some food/drinks, so I don't see the point in making this complex. Why can't I just order my food , then pay with cash / card instead of entering my info to some web app?
We said 'whatever' and still ordered our beer. However we were also surprised to see that there were no option of small snacks in the menu (or we couldn't see). Like no French Fries, nuts or chips that could be good if you are not actually hungry but appreciate something that could go well with beer. So we asked the waiter's help when he brought out order. His answer was a sharp 'Did you actually read the menu?' . We told him that we already did and maybe we missed something. He said he would be back, but of course he didn't show up. Let me remind you that this happened at a time when the place was almost empty.
So all in all it was an experience which we could get by ordering some beer through an online app. At least for the apps the delivery guys are generally more decent and prices are more...
Read moreI don't think I will ever eat here again.
As soon as we sat down (4 people), a waitress came very quickly to ask us what we wanted to drink. She didn't give us time to choose and my partner was in the bathroom. She stood there looking at us and waiting for us to tell her what we wanted to drink and we had to tell her to wait a little bit. 5 minutes later she arrived again with a very agitated attitude, asking if we were finally ready.
We waited about 25-30 minutes before she came over to ask us what we wanted to eat. When we mentioned a specific preference, she only spoke in German, knowing that there were 3 different languages at the table. I asked for something basic, a hamburger without some kind of dip, she told me it was not possible. I asked for another option, she said it was not possible. How is it possible that the service and/or the kitchen can't simply remove a topping?
The food arrived in 20 minutes, we did not have the table ready (forks, knives etc), No explanation of what we had on the table (we waited about 50 minutes between the whole process) and we received a normal potato portion, ketchup and a hamburger the size of a normal palm. It was ok.
The icing on the cake was at checkout, where we had to get up to find someone in service to bring us the bill. Another 25 minutes before, by coincidence, a guy passed by our table and we had to ask him, again, to give us the bill.
Resumen: If you are not a native German speaker, don't know what you are going to ask for and want recommendations, and if you want something more customized, I don't think this is your...
Read moreHorrible experience with rude staff.
We started standing in line to get in, after some time we got a table, and ordered four beers. After some time three beers came and we were told that one of them was sold out. Therefore, we immediately tried to order a different one to the same waiter. But he just sent another person to our table and we tried to get a beer for our last person again. Three out of four of us have now had a beer for 5 minutes. Nothing seemed to happen, so one of ask a waiter (in very polite German) if a new beer was on the way. He seems to get upset about the simple question and becomes rude, and tells us "that you have already ordered two beers (of the one sold out")??? And we reply that we thought it was sold out, and that we ordered a new one. "How should I know if it's sold out" he replies (or something similar). OK ... Another waiter comes and says to him that it is sold out. OK ... We finally get a beer that was not sold out (the one we tried to order the first time we were told that the first one was sold out). As we did now particularly liked being talked to like that, we asked for the bill after the first beer. On the bill there was a 12 euro beer, which we did not have.
Too many waiters for one table, as they did not seem to coordinate anything. But the show stopper was the rude waiter, when all we wanted was a beer for all us (at the same time)
This was a long story, but you...
